I wonder if your Tom Hays died from the Great Flu Epidemic of 1918. The disease ran rife throughout the WWI training and deployment centers. It was especially deadly for men from rural areas, as they had not built up immunity to diseases that children growing up in big cities had developed. He enlised from Cedar County, IA, and had worked as a farm hand in the Clarence area. His "people" were from Monmouth, Il. His name has been engraved on our Cedar County war dead monument. I am looking for info on him and/or family. His name will be included in a book published about our war dead. > > > ==== HAYS Mailing List ==== > Visit Cyndi's List of Genealogical Sites on the Internet. http://www.cyndislist.com > > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
