Andrew Jackson. I know the sale occurred in 1804. But this is his lineage as far as I've been able to find. David and Hugh were brothers. Their parents were Charles Hays and Barbara Unknown. She apparently died some time, and Charles remarried a Margaret Stevenson, in Greene County, TN. having several other children. David Married a Jane Collier. Charles Parents were John C. Hays Junior, and Rebecca Maxwell. You said that they were related to the Donnelson's. If this is the same David and Hugh, the were related. David and Hugh would be Grand Nephews to Jane Donelson. Jane is the sister of Rachel Donnelson, the wife of Andrew Jackson. I've recently found a large amount of information on this part of the Hays family, and am sorting through it, all the wills and land grants, etc. to see if a relationship exists. Also the Architechural Historian at the Hermitage is supposed to have finished a project on Historic Structures at the Hermitage, that dealt with the rumor that Hugh or Nathaniel built the original buildings at the Hermiate in the 1700's. He too was looking for information concerning the Hays family at the site. I'll be glad to share whatever information I find on this part of the family, or any other part. I'm also related to the Butler/Hays that founded Jackson TN, and the earlier Hays' that founded Haysboro, TN. Also the same branch of the family as John "Jack" Coffee Hays (My 1st cousin, 6 times removed).
