ILL, sometime around 1840-1870? I have an Eric HAYS in my lines from back there. They were tied into the FORTUNE, BAKER, POLK(E), COCKEREL, MOORE families. My gr'grqndfather James Valentine (Volney) HAYS m. a Melvina FORTUNE in Spencer Co, IN (I believe). They had my gr'father Jesse B. HAYES (name spelling changed). Although while James & Melvina were still living in IN, Jesse was b. in Carmi, White Co, ILL in 1880. They came back into IN, where Jesse mET Gola Edith BAKER. They were m. in Gillett, ARK in 1907, and moved back to IN, where they had my dad, Huey Hanson HAYES, in 1908. Shortly after that, they moved into Calhoun, KY. (Gola's parents were John BAKER and Martha Melinda MOORE). My major problem has been trying to locate parents/ siblings/ etc, of James Valentine HAYS. I am at a complete loss here. There are still a bunch of HAYS' in White Co, ILL. I am in process of searching them out for possible leads. Tks for any help......from ANYONE. Craig
