I am new to this list and was wondering if anyone could help me out here. On Alfred's death notice, his birthplace is listed as England. He was a Glazier and was 48 years old when he died on 14 October 1897 in Somerset, Cape, South Africa, leaving a wife, Jane Hayden, nee Sayer. Their children included: John Henry, Mary Bertha Elizabeth, Alfred James, Enod Caroline Harriet, Ely Charles and Kate Johnson. He was born about 1849 if I subtract 48 years from 1897. The name Alfred seems to have been passed down through the generations, as I have traced 3 generations with Alfred in them. My other lines include: WEBSTER, HAYDEN, HAWTHORN(E), RUSSELL, TURVEY, TAYLOR, BOWES-TAYLOR, RABE, GUNTHER, LOCK, NEIL, CHATTERSON, REINDERS, RABBETS. Regards Jackie
Hello Jackie, My records have "Alfred Hayden bn 1842 Hampshire" and three entries for Alfred James Hayden " but there is no "Alfred Henry Hayden".
