Hi all, Madora is correct, the Irish Haydons are in no way related to the English groups, unless a Haydon went to Ireland very early after the Norman occupation [about 1200] and started a line there [no evidence yet]. More likely the Irish group may have been called something like O'Heiden, and when arriving in America the spelling was changed. Remember also there are similar sounding names in Germany and Holland, again spelling may well have changed on arrival in America; many early settlers could not read or write, so could not confirm any documentation. DNA testing will [as more are tested] will define the various groups more clearly, and then some sort of designation in the message subject like Hayden Group A, means that is the message you need to read, the rest you generally ignore. DNA testing is the where all efforts need to be concentrated, a pity my Hayden is my Mother's side, so DNA test no help.
