am seeking information on the parents of Edwin (perhaps Edward) Seth Hayden born ca. 1811 in either CT or NY. Married Matilda Joyce and had two sons born in NY. In 1850 and 1860, this family is in McHenry Co., IL. I would appreciate any information you may have. Thanks. Steve Hayden

Good idea. My computer program often has a note, 'please block your pop ups', and then I delete the whole thing! Shelley, This is not my wife's line but thought I would try to help find a descendant. Here is some additional information and I hope you are successful: Mary Conlan married Matthew Hayden about 1882. Matthew was born in New York and is listed in 1880 on the same page as the Conlan family with the O'Neill family. His relationship is nephew. He is also listed in Dodge, Nebraska in 1880 with Mary's brother James Conlan. They are shown as living in a boarding house. Mary (don't know where Matthew was), is listed with her first three children in the Iowa 1885 census next to her father in Monona County. In 1900 she and Matthew with their children are living in Sioux City. Their son named Matthew Harold Hayden was born January 19, 1900. He registered with the draft in 1918 and listed his father as next of kin. In the 1930 census Mary (widowed), and her youngest daughter Tess are living with her son in Sioux City. He is newly married (wife's name is Goldie) but has no children. The family was living in Perry Co., IA in 1900 and had children: Katherine, 18, NE; Eugene, 16, NE; Elizabeth, 15; Mary, 13; Barbara, 11; Margaret, 8; Loretta, 6; and Matthew. Matthew's brother James Hayden is living with the family. They were still in Perry in 1910. Tess (Theresa, 8) is listed. Katherine, Elizabeth and Mary are not. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Rose CONLAN; Mary Ann CONLAN HAYDEN; Margaret CONLAN WILLIAMS; and Kathryn CONLAN GREENOUGH; which was taken at the Spaulding Studio in Whiting, Iowa. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with the four women appearing to be in their teens to 40's at the time the photograph was taken. Under the name of Mary Ann CONLAN HAYDEN the date "1892" appears, though I've no idea why. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Margaret Christien CONLAN b. abt 1869 in OH to parents Owen CONLAN (b. Aug 1833 in Ireland) and Barbara DOLAN (b. Apr 1840 in Ireland). Margaret married Ira T. WILLIAMS (b. abt 1869 in VA or MT) and together they had 7 children including, Mary Elizabeth; John; Linea L.; Eugene; Conlan; Charles; and Anita WILLIAMS all born between 1895 and 1913. Catherine G. CONLAN, daughter of Owen C. CONLAN and Barbara DOLAN married John GREENOUGH on 30 Jan 1900 in Belgrade, MT. Catherine was born in Cleveland, OH and was 33 years old at the time of her marriage to John. Census information provides the following information: 1870 census of Cleveland, OH: Owen CONLAN, age 35, a Railroad Worker, born Ireland Barbara CONLAN, age 32, Keeping House, born Ireland James CONLAN, age 10, born OH Mary CONLAN, age 8, born OH Catherine CONLAN, age 6, born OH Margaret CONLAN, age 1, born OH + a Laborer 1880 census of Grant, IA: Owen CONLEN, age 47, born Ireland, a Farmer, parents born Ireland Barbara CONLEN, wife, age 40, born Ireland, Keeping House, parents born Ireland Katy CONLEN, dau, age 16, born OH, at Home Maggie CONLEN, dau, age 11, born OH, at School Eugene CONLEN, son, age 9, born NE, at School John CONLEN, son, age 7, born IA, at School Rosa CONLEN, dau, age 5, born IA, at School I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of the family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
I've been doing a bit of family history digging and found that my grandmother's older brother was born in Charles County VA in 1897. This is the first I know of that family ever being anyplace other than Grant Park Ill, Kenasten Sask. and Edmonton Alb. So... Does anyone have any records from Charles VA of any Hayden's from the late 1890's? Or any Dickey/Dackie???? I'm wondering what took them to VA and my thought is that there was Hayden family there. I'm reasonably sure there were no Dickey's there. Thanks Ernie
I'm not in this Hayden line be do live in the Seattle area and am willing to help if you need someone here. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Olive THURLOW which was taken at the Boyd Studio in Seattle, Washington. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with Olive likely about 8 years old at the time it was taken. In addition to her name it appears that she has written "To Thurlow" and "From" and "Merry Xmas" as if this was a gift she gave to someone named "Thurlow". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Olive and her family: Olive Opal THURLOW b. 11 Aug 1893 in Twisp or Silver, WA to parents Mason THURLOW and May Lois ELLIS. Olive married Clarence HAYDEN and died 4 Mar 1964 in Ellensburg, WA. Hi, if anyone has any connection with or information about this gentleman I would be very interested as I think he is the brother of my GGGGrandmother. I have a copy of the article from Henry Shaw's 1850 "The Dublin Pictorial Guide & Directory" Margaret Parkes
Hi, I am new to this list - recently did a search on the archives and found a reference to an essay in the Tipperary Historical Journal 1994 by Tadhg Hayden called the "The Haydens in Tipperary: a 700 year journey." I have tried my local library, the NZ Society of Genealogists and the New Zealand National Library and have been unable to locate a copy of this production. I would be very grateful if someone is able to help me with a scanned copy of just that article. My interest in the Tipperary family comes from having been given a copy of an old letter which started like this: "In Singleton, in County Tipperary, Ireland lived a well to do farmer named Haedon. He had five daughters and one or two sons. One of the latter became a doctor and moved to Dublin where he became famous as he was one of the first who reduced his fee, to suit the poor people, to 5/-. The daughters were named Eliza, Rachael, Jane, Margaret and Hannah............. Jane was my GGGGrandmother. There seem to be some errors however as I have found that there is no place in Ireland called Singleton and it appears that the spelling of HAEDON should be HAYDEN. I have recently found a reference to the doctor, hence my other posting. I would love to make contact with someone else connected to this family. Margaret Parkes
