A funeral service was held May 7, 2008 at Cheraw Church of God with burial in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. Hatcher, born in Marlboro County, S.C. a daughter of the late Eldridge and Rachel Steen Cumber. She was a retired textile employee. Hatcher was a member of Cheraw Church of God and attended Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother Ed Cumber, and by three sisters, Lee English, Lib Watson, and Hazel Elkins. Surviving are: husband, Carnell Hatcher of the home; son, Gregory (Lynn) Hatcher of Wallace; daughter, Pam (Kenneth) Ard of Cheraw; brothers, J.C. Cumber of Hartsville, S.C. and Perry Cumber of Rockingham, N.C.; sisters, Naomi Outlaw of Rockingham, N.C. and Inez Smith of York, S.C.; also four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, S.C. 29709. Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
