    1. [HATCHER] Van Sant's and Hatchers
    2. I would like to thank Paul Hatcher for sending?his information to us. I compared my Van Sant records and most of it was the same except for a few names and dates. I also used Davis' "A Genealogical and Personal History of Buck's County" for much of my information. Another site I used which may be the same source as the CD's that Paul used was the "Van Zandt Family Genealogy" I found on a web site. "The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record" also had quite a bit. I thought it interesting that in that publication, the progenitor of all these Van Zandts was not listed as Stoffel or Christoffel but Stofflesz Hermansz. I would be interested to know if Paul or anyone else has an opinion on this. Also, the name Rakestraw has been mentioned. I have Hannah Rakestraw dau. of Thomas Rakestraw and Mary Mason married to Abraham Haines, another familiar name associated with Hatchers and from Burlington, N.J. Jeremiah Rakestraw married Margaret Borton, Josiah Rakestraw married Ann Borton and Josiah Borton married Lydia Rakestraw. All of the Borton's were siblings. A real family affair! I have Ann Ingledue b. 1719, the first dau. of Blackstone Ingledue and Margaret Palmer. The parents were born in England, the children in Philadelphia. Two of the children, Hannah, who married Jacob Janney (another familiar surname) from Bucks County and Sarah who married John Hatcher both died in Loudoun County VA. There were 2 boys in the Ingledue family, Blackstone Jr. and William. I don't have a death date or place for Blackstone but William died when 2 years old. Some of this information comes from "The Descendants of Thomas and Mary (Ludford) Nichols of Staffordshire, England; compiled by Pauline E.Nichols. The Thomas Balch Library in Leesburg, VA copied this information for me. The marriage of William Hatcher and Ann Van Sant is also listed in the Genealogical Magazine of New Jersey. p. 76, Vol. 14 #4. Hope this information is helpful to someone. I have enjoyed the discussions on the Quaker Hatcher's immensely.

    3. HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Shirley, You're coming thru loud and clear now......and here's the Rakestraw ref. Wills: Abstracts, Book D : 1714 - 1725/6: Philadelphia Co, PA RAKESTRAW, WILLIAM. Philadelphia. Malster. December 29, 1718. February 2, 1718. D. 113. Wife Elizabeth. Children: John, Grace (ZANE), Elizabeth, Sarah, Ann, Mary, William and Thomas. Grand-son Joseph Rakestraw. Son-in-law Nathaniel Zane. Executors: William and Thomas. Trustees: William Hudson, William Tidmarsh and Thomas Chalkley. Witnesses: Tobias Nilee, William Hatcher and John Cadwalader. Grace Rakestraw md Nathaniel Zane. We now find an Albert Zane in NJ connected to a Rachel Hatcher. And Pennsy Bob has Wm Zane Hatcher as his ancestor. If the above Thomas Rakestraw is your guy, we now have another connection to NJ thru Abe Haines and even more reason to believe that the witness to Rakestraw's will is our Wm/Ann VS. If you could send me the family info on the Rakestraw/Haines line in the 1700-1800 timeframe, I would much appreciate it. I'm also pretty sure I've seen refs to the Bortons in NJ. Yes, this HAS been an enjoyable and also very productive discussion. I'm convinced we're going to solve this sooner or later....hopefully sooner :-) Nel
