    1. Re: [HATCHER] Quaker Connections for Shirley
    2. Burnis, Your information was helpful and I filled in a few spots. I'm related to the Twinings, and Mercy Lupton married Joshua Haines if my info is correct. Those Haines just keep popping up everywhere. You have also given me some sources I can check out. Don't worry about the Stephen. I think you meant to type Samuel and typed Stephen instead. Thanks for the information. DNA testing recently proved that. So we do have a new brick wall here. He married Mary Scarborough 7 Nov 1712 Middletown MM Records). She is the daughter of John Scarborough and [it is believed] Mary Pearson/Pierson who married a Torrey after John's death and may have been married to a Heath and a Gladding before her marriage to John. There is some information around (unproven, at least by me) that Mary Pearson/Pierson may have been the daughter of a Robert Pierson and Mary Janney. I have not gotten around to working on this supposition. Samuel and Mary's children list was sent to my late father by genealogist Thomas D. Graham: John, Isaac, Samuel jr., William and Grace (this being my ancestor). They are also listed in "Some Quaker Families" by Roger Boone and Marjorie Morgan, which books (several volumes) are about the Scarborough and Haworth families. When Samuel died Mary Scarborough Pickering married Joseph Lupton jr., who had been married to Mercy Twining, then deceased. Both couples from Bucks County. Joseph and Mary were married 6 Aug 1730 (Buckingham and Hopewell records) and moved their combined family to Virginia in 1741. Together they had 3 children (Ann, Mercy and Jonathan) to add to the 5 Mary brought to the family (listed above) and the 5 Joseph had (William, Sarah, Joseph, Elizabeth and John). There were two marriages between these stepbrothers/sisters, My Grace Pickering married Joseph's son William Lupton (in 1745) and Grace's brother Isaac married William's sister Sarah Lupton (1738). Well, I could go on and on. I have the children of most of these people and I don't find a Stephen though as I said before Mercy Twining's father was named Stephen and she did have a brother Stephen Twining who was in Bucks County, also. His wife was Margaret Mitchell. They are in the Wrightstown MM Records. The only child I have found for them so far is a daughter Elizabeth. I am happy to help you in any way I can.
