Hatcher 60, of Indianapolis, passed away June 19, 2008. He was a journalist and journalism instructor in the U.S. Army, retiring after 23 years of service and also was a freelance sports' writer for the Anderson Herald. For the past eight years Ron was a system analyst with Eli Lilly & Company. He also served as the Editor of the European Pacific Stars and Stripes Association and was an active member of the Indiana Chapter Defense Information School Alumni Association. Ronald is survived by his wife of 39 years, Toshiko Hatcher; his children, Emiko Kreklau and Ryan Hatcher; his grandchildren Keiko and Curtis Kreklau III; his brothers Ralph, Randy, Roger, Rex, and Ragan Hatcher and sister Lisa Sato. Services will be Tuesday, June 24, 11 a.m. at Servants of Christ Lutheran Church, 7650 Oaklandon Rd., with calling at the church one hour prior to the service. Friends may call Monday, June 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center, Washington Park! East. Burial will be later at the Camp Butler Cemetery, Springfield, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lilly Foundation or the IU Cancer Center.
