If we were to see Ann's name in the middle of her siblings, we could be pretty sure who we're dealing with, or as you said, if she was listed in the parent's spot of honor, we would know this was mama. But in this case, I think I can say with some assurance that my Notes are not correct in flatly stating that the witness Ann Hatcher was the mother in all cases.
