Ophelia H. Young Services for Ophelia H. Young of Boston are at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Harold Pullen will officiate and interment is in Boston City Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Robbie Hutchinson, Claude Owens, William Robinson, Stevie Stuart, Clint Garbett and Scott Barrow. Mrs. Young died Tuesday, Aug. 19 at Camellia Gardens of Life Care in Thomasville. Born Sept. 1, 1922, in Thomas County, she was a daughter of the late John W. Hatcher and Eunice Cumbust Hatcher. She was married to Edward C. Young Jr. who preceded her in death. She graduated from Boston High School and Crawford Long School of Nursing. A nurse for 50 years, she retired from the state of Georgia as a registered nurse and supervisor at Georgia Southwestern Hospital. Survivors include sons, Larry W. Young and wife, Pam of Tyrone, Edward C. Young III, David H. Young and wife, Dale all of Thomasville; daughter, Judy Young Donaldson of Boston; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
