HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood >From the site I just sent, I've found advertisements relating to the estate of Sarah Hatcher, widow of James Hatcher of Charleston, SC - one of our Unc families that is documented back to a Richard Hatcher born before 1678 who was granted land in Charleston c1699. Sarah died in 1783 somewhere in the Charleston/BeaufortCo/Pr William Parish area. This (extended) family named their kids John, James, Thomas and William (#$%^%$& - she muttered under her breath). One James Hatcher (md Jane Jervey) was known to be in LibertyCo, GA by 1768. One advertisement stated "according to her will." Yee-hah! So I will now be surfing SC to see if I can find where Sarah's will (if it survived) might be hiding. I suspect it will be at SCDAH or perhaps the Charleston Library. If I can find a likely location, I will need the help of one of our SC residents to keep the research costs down. I'm also going to see what research opportunities are available in LibertyCo, GA. Considering the ongoing mess with some of our GA families, I have always wondered if perhaps this James Hatcher from Charleston to LibertyCo may be part of the answer. And if he is, our DNA results would indicate he's related to Wm the Im thru Richard of Charleston. That could open up some very interesting research possibilities for us. Nel
