HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Cuzins, To get all of you up to speed, the Hatcher Families Genealogy Assn currently has 13 Advisory board members who were installed one year ago. We also have our 5 Directors - President, 1st VP, 2nd VP, Secretary and Treasurer whose terms have been set at 2 years. This msg concerns the Advisory board. A decision has been made to limit each Advisory board member to a one year term and to require each current member to resubmit an application if they wish to continue serving. Anyone who wishes to be considered for this position is very much encouraged to submit an application. We will have a total of 16 advisory board positions. I am sending this msg to all of you and also to the 300+ people who have registered on our site (obviously much overlap) but perhaps a total of 500 individuals will receive this msg. Being a board member will require that you: 1) be comfortable enough in your geney experience to participate in our occasional HFGA discussions by offering questions, ideas or solutions for the topic under discussion. 2) have experience in geney research to include (but not limited to) one or more of the following: courthouse, research library, geney society experience to include microfilm reading; experience in transcribing, whether it be original documents or cemetery walking and recording. There are, of course, many more geney experiences that are valuable within a total group effort. The more varied the experiences, the better we fare. If you specialize in one type of research, you are more than eligible for serious consideration. 3) be able to handle a minimum of one research project a year requiring no more than 1 day's work that is within your realm of experience and within your area of residence. All expenses for this effort will be paid by HFGA. The application need be no more than 1 page in length and should describe your experiences and abilities based on the 3 requirements above. It is also preferable that we have at least 1 member from each of our families: Wm the Im, the Quaker/Dorset Hatchers, the English Hatchers, the Waccamaw Hatchers, the African American Hatchers and the Unconnected Hatchers. Please email all apps to me at nelhatch@hills.net no later than November 15th. Once the final decisions have been made, I will announce our new Advisory board to the list. Cheers, Nel
