She was born in Morgantown to the late John Finley Tait and Ada Wilson Tait and then resided in Charleston for over sixty years. Mrs. Hatcher made her home in Charleston in the mid forties. She was a homemaker and a mother to seven children. She enjoyed a variety of activities, including traveling, gardening and caring for her family. For several years, she was a realtor with Top Rock Realty. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Amaranth, Dames of the Magna Carte, and the Monongalia General Auxiliary, Morgantown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis A. Hatcher; and son, Tait A. Hatcher. Those left to celebrate her life include her daughter-in-law, Connie Hatcher of Morgantown; daughters and their spouses, Suzanne and Robert Glock of Morgantown, Linda and Harry Grandon of Morgantown, Mary Virginia and Dennis Kerns of Morgantown, Heather and John Barry of Charleston, and Alexandra and Bob Hartman of Raleigh, N.C.; son, John Burks and Judy of Charleston; sisters, Virginia Jones of Morgantown and Carolyn Derenburger of South Charleston; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, to whom she was known as "Mimi". The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church, Charleston, with the Rev. Dr. William McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 7, at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston. The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregivers, neighbors and friends for their love, support and prayers. The family suggests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, 16 Leon Sullivan Way, Charleston, WV 25301 and/or Monongalia General Hospital, 1200 J.D. Anderson Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505.
