And now I'm brain picking again...........! Paul - for you. Who is Anderson Duncan, supposed father of Mary Malinda? And how do you know for sure he's her father? Does anyone have any info on Zachariah Duncan [1780-1790] of SanduskyCo, OH, died 1843 with kids Jackson bn 1820, dau bn 1822, dau bn 1824, Andrew bn 1826, Margaret bn 1831, Julia bn 1833? Named kids are proven. I think it's possible Mary Malinda is Zach's dau and not Anderson's. Her age fits with one of the unnamed daus. Does the name Amos White ring any bells with anyone? He seems to have a connection to Julia Duncan but we don't quite know what. How about Joseph Keller who was the guardian of Margaret and Julia? Julia had an illegitimate son named Robert L bn 1857 SanduskyCo and an unnamed Hatcher father. There have never been found any Hatchers in SanduskyCo in the 1850-1860 time frame and I strongly suspect that Julia met one of James Duncan Hatcher's relatives in the Logan/Champaign area while visiting her sister, Mary Malinda. Robert married and died in MI but his son, Dr Robert L Hatcher, ended up moving to CRAWFORDCo, OH where he died. Seems like CrawfordCo is the place where too many of our Hatcher people go to die :-( Dive right in, guys! Looking for any tidbits you can dredge up........... Nel
Nel, You might be on to something. I have all the pictures available from my line. Included is a picture of a distinguished looking gent named Anderson Duncan. I thought he might be Mary Malinda's father. I have never been able to find him in any census. My aunt Lucille, who I spent a lot of time with, was raised by James Duncan Hatcher's son, James Orlando Hatcher and inherited all the pictures and folklore. She was born only 7 and 9 years after they died. She said she thought the Duncans were from Sandusky or Sandusky county, Ohio. I have talked to several of the descendants of Maud Hatcher, the only provable illegitament child of James Duncan, but they thought they came from California. But I have never been able to find an Anderson Duncan in any census. Somehow, I never thought of Anderson being a brother. Lucille said James Duncan Hatcher fathered 2 other illegitament children but she had no other info. There is another loose Hatcher in Harden county, Ohio, the county just above Logan county, where James Duncan was a school teacher! Paul

Sleletons falling out of closets everywhere!! :-) I wasn't aware that James D had such a reputation, but I'd say it's probably very likely he's Robert's father, too, and perhaps one of those "other 2" from family lore. I found Anderson in the 1850 Sandusky census living with a Carter family. Easy to miss because his age was transcribed as 93!! But very sloppy writing and I'm positive it was really 43. No wife or kids and haven't found him later. But who is this "loose Hatcher" in HardinCo? Inquiring minds want to know :-) Nel
