    3. Nel, The Eichelberger's came from Champaign county, Ohio. I have not searched those cemeteries Elizabeth Jane could not have been born in 1833, or she would have been only 14 years old when her daughter was born. The Elizabeth on Abel's stone Phebe Elizabeth born 22 Feb. 1838, and died after 1920 while living with her son Fred in Cleveland, Cuyahoga county, Ohio. Aren't you glad he was not known to have married another Elizabeth? HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "One of the tragedies of life is the murder of a beautiful theory by a brutal gang of facts" - La Rochefoucauld Paul, I think you made a typo here........ "Elizabeth Jane could not have been born in 1833, or she would have been only 14 years old when her daughter was born." I think you meant "born in 1838" since her dau was born Nov 1852. But I would disagree with the premise that 14 was too young. Phoebe was born Feb 1838 and if she were the mother of Christina, she would have been almost 15 at her birth. Keeping in mind that Phoebe was an orphan before 1850, I think it's entirely possible that permission may have been given for her to marry at age 14. It's not at all common but I've seen proof of a few of these "younger than normal" marriages. I agree with your details on Phoebe's death but not where she died. She died in CrawfordCo, OH. Here is that DC from FamilySearch.org. Name : Elizabeth Hatcher Death date : 02 Nov 1929 Death place : Crestline, Crawford, Ohio Birth date : 21 Feb 1838 Estimated birth year : Birth place : Belfontaine, , Ohio Age at death : 91 years 8 months 11 days Gender : Female Marital status : Widowed Race or color : Caucasian Street address : 336 N. Columbus Occupation : Housewife Residence : Burial date : 04 Nov 1929 Burial place : Rushsylvania, , Ohio Cemetery name : Spouse name : Abel T. Hatcher Father name : John B. Patrick Father titles : Father birth place : , , Ireland Mother name : Malinda Sutherland Mother titles : Mother birth place : , , Ohio GSU film number : 1992019 Digital GS number : 4022360 Image number : 2760 Certificate number : fn 68975 Collection : Ohio Deaths 1908-1953 Note that she uses Elizabeth equally with Phoebe: 2 Phebes in censi, 2 Elizabeths in censi, Elizabeth on her DC and apparently her tombstone. And if you're sure that Phoebe Elizabeth is on the same tombstone with Abel, then WHERE THE HECK is Elizabeth Eichelbarger??? Should she not be buried right next to Abel? Where is Christina buried? Should she not be buried next to her mother? So I'm still not seeing any evidence for the existence of Eichelbarger. And I'm wondering if it was assumed that Abel must have had a 1st wife because Phoebe was "too young." If that was the case, I'm still not seeing how Eichelbarger happened to be chosen. At this point, I really believe he had only 1 wife - Phoebe - unless someone has more clues to toss out. Nel
