GILBERT Alma Finton Lee Hatcher Gilbert, 78, of Mount Airy, N.C., died May 18, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C. She was born November 23, 1928 in Ararat and was a daughter of the late James P. and Emma Travis Hatcher. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Valentine Hatcher and Emma Louise Hatcher Shirley; and three brothers, William Stanford Hatcher, James Oliver Hatcher and Barney J. Hatcher. She was retired from Proctor Silex in Mount Airy. Surviving are three daughters, Regina Brim of Mount Airy; Tina Harris and Denese Strickland of Greensboro, N.C.; one son, Sterling Eric Strickland of New York; one sister, Hazel Hatcher Gilbert of Mount Airy; one brother, George V. Hatcher of Deer Park, N.Y.; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Airy. The Rev. I am from N.C. and Ararat is in Virginia, not NC. It is very close to the NC/VA line near Stuart, Va. Don't know if this makes a difference to someone or not.
