HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "One of the tragedies of life is the murder of a beautiful theory by a brutal gang of facts" - La Rochefoucauld Cuzins, I've come to some conclusions that will impact on a bunch of you so hope you're sitting down. The story of the Henrys goes many years back and has been an arduous process by several of us to reach the conclusions we did. Yet I've always had nigglies about two facts that I could never explain. We had Ben/Greenhaugh with a son Henry whose birth year had been wrong for decades. This Henry supposedly md Susanna Williamson. We had Henry/Lound with a son Henry who md Dorothy Hardaway. When it was proved that Ben's son was not born c1695 but closer to c1665, we now had this very old man marrying Susanna, about 40 yrs younger than he. In the beginning I believed Susanna's husband, Henry, was the son of the older Henry whose wife was unknown. Still, it was always unclear when Henry Sr died due to the lack of Sr-Jr being found in the records. I finally felt that Henry Sr actually did marry Susanna as his 2nd wife. With the discovery that Ben and his sons probably lived on Proctors creek, it has altered the landscape a good deal. What we had was the following: Henry/Anne Lound had son Henry Jr. Henry Jr married Dorothy Hardaway and had son, Henry III. Henry III married Margaret LNU. Ben/Greenhaugh had son Henry. Henry married 1) unknown and 2) Susanna Williamson. But the Proctor Creek connections show very clearly that Henry owned land in this area given him by his g-father, John Greenhaugh, and that Henry was mentioned in a 1691 deed being an adjacent owner. A long time niggly I've had is the 1705 Henrico Rent Roll showing only ONE Henry with 650A. This matches what is known about Henry of Proctor creek. BUT! Where is Henry, son of Henry/Lound? Why is he not on this list? Does he not own land in Henrico? Is he even living in Henrico? The second niggly, IF we had Henry, son of Ben, and Henry, son of Henry, both living in Henrico and close in age, is the total absense of descriptive titles other than in deeds dealing directly with Henry Sr and Jr. If Henry #1 bought or sold land in Henrico, he would have to be ID'd as distinct from Henry #2 by defining him as son of Henry or son of Ben. Nothing like this has ever been found. That has led me to the conclusion that Henry, s/o Henry/Lound, died without heirs!!! What we know is that after Henry's death, Anne remarried to Samuel Moody and lived in Charles CityCo. Even tho Henry Lound was the guardian of Henry/Anne's kids, that does not imply they lived with him. I believe those young children were raised in CCCo and that sometime after 1696 and before 1705 when Henry Lound was dismissed due to all kids being of age, young Henry died. Henry did not appear on the 1705 CCCo Tax list and by that time, one would expect him to have a wife, kids and land. NO! Not found. So with this Henry NOT in Henrico and likely dead, it explains only 1 Henry on the 1705 list and the absense in the records of any descriptive titles. I've been transferring records to align with this new theory and so far what I'm seeing is finally beginning to make sense. One record in particular caught my eye where Ben/Greenhaugh's sons are involved in a deed with Henry who was assumed to be son of Henry/Lound. OK! Cousins dealing with cousins. But the land involved and the witnesses went right back to Proctor's creek. This now looks like brothers dealing with brothers. But I am a long way from finished with the transfer of records and there are still many details to verify and perhaps questions to solve. The one thing that stands out from all this is that it appears NONE OF YOU descend from Henry/Lound. You are all descendants of either Ben or Edward. And that will be the last part of this process I will be working on - the DNA results. That process, too, may solve a few nigglies when I realign test results. And this all started with a msg from Shawn - it's all his fault :-) Nel
