HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "One of the tragedies of life is the murder of a beautiful theory by a brutal gang of facts" - La Rochefoucauld Chuck, you sweet thang, you! Phoebe Cheatham will definitely be checked out - thank you! My DNA changes have all been made now [I think!] and one thing I discovered now that I've removed all the Henry/Nancy testers from Josiah, we have no one who has tested directly thru Josiah. If we have a Josiah descendant [coming down from either wife] interested in testing, let me know. This would be an important test. I'm also checking out the 2 younger Josiahs in Chesterfield. Both seem to have gone to the infamous Buckingham and that really doesn't smell right......... Nel

HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "One of the tragedies of life is the murder of a beautiful theory by a brutal gang of facts" - La Rochefoucauld JW, Will answer as best I can using *** 1675 Edward Hatcher transported a Henry Hatcher (which Henry is this?) *** Ed's brother, Henry/Anne. Couple of possibilities here with one of them based on Mary Bondurant Warren's question asking me if it was possible Henry was the eldest son. Yes, it's possible. And if so, he may have been sent to England to be educated with father, Wm, receiving a chit for 50A upon Henry's return. Wm never cashed it in but gave it to son Ed. The other possibility is that Henry, who appears to have had no interest in accumulating land, returned from a business trip to England and traded his chit to Ed for something in return.** 1691 Henrico Co Martin Elam to Thomas Cheatham on Proctors Creek next to Henry Hatcher *** I had originally believed this to be Henry/Jane or Henry/Dorothy but have since changed my mind. Those boys were barely of age in 1690 and may still have been minors. Titles to land often didn't get recorded quickly and I doubt this land would have been recorded with the court until whichever Henry came of age. In the case of the Greenhaugh deeds to gsons, they were not recorded until 1696. In the case of Henry/Anne, whatever land he owned would not have changed title until at least his inheriting son came of age and his estate was settled. That, too, did not happen until after 1690. With that in mind, I believe this land belonged to Henry/Anne and was still in his name even tho he had died in 1677. So a tip to everyone. A deed showing "adj John Doe" does not imply John Doe is still alive. *** 1703 Henrico Henry Hatcher purchases 331 acres on Proctors Cr. *** Henry/Jane [Ben] *** 1703 Henrico Edward Hatcher Sr of Neck of Land appoints beloved "cousin" (nephew?) Henry Hatcher (of same) his attorney *** Believe this has to be Henry/Jane [Ben]. I really do believe that after Dorothy's rape that Henry/Dorothy left the area for at least 2-3 yrs and did not return until after the 1704-5 Rent Rolls. *** 1704 Henrico Edward Hatcher to cousin (nephew?) Henry Hatcher *** Henry/Jane [Ben], nephew *** 1704 Henrico/quit rents Henry Hatcher 650 acres *** Henry/Jane [Ben] *** 1705 Henrico Rent Roll Henry Hatcher 650 acres (same as 1704 Henry-3/Dorothy?) *** Henry/Jane [Ben] *** 1706 Henrico Henry Hatcher-? appraised inventory of Benj Branch *** Henry/Jane [Ben]. Ben Branch also lived on Proctor's creek and would be Henry's neighbor. *** 1711 Henrico Henry Hatcher-? inventoried Negoroes of Ben Branch *** Henry/Jane [Ben] *** 1713 Henrico Henry Hatcher Sr to Samuel Hancock Is this Henry Hatcher Sr-3/Dorothy? He has son Henry (Jr) -4/Marg since he is a "SR" *** Careful!! Here's part of the confusion in this mess. The 1713 deed was for the mill on Red Water creek and belonged to Henry/Jane. No SR in the abstract I have. Red Water creek was just west of Proctor creek. p 111: January 1711; Petition of Arthur Mosley, Henry Hatcher and Samuel Hancock to build a water mill on Red Water Run. p 214: March 1713; From Henry Hatcher to Samuel Hancock and Arthur Mosely, Red Water Mill. The land on the Beaver ponds of Swift creek is what you are referring to and indeed was owned by Henry/Dorothy and Henry/Marg. We see it being sold in 1736 but no deed to know when it was first purchased. *** 1718 Henrico Henry Hatcher Jr & Martha Hatcher witness a will of Wm Hobson Is this Henry Jr-4/Marg? who is Martha Hatcher? sister? *** Toss a dart and take a guess. I don't know. It would be necessary to find out where Wm Hobson lived and who his neighbors were. Haven't attempted to do that yet........ *** 1725 Henrico Isaac Robertson signed an administator's bond for John Martin with Henry Hather-? Which Henry? *** You're holding out on me, JW :-) Where are you finding this rec? *** 1732 Goochland Henry Hatcher 400 acres on n side of Appomatox R on Deep creek Is this Henry-3/Jane (Ben-2)? *** Yes. He also patented 400A and 200A in the same area in 1734 and 1736. But Ben-2?? Henry/Jane was son of Ben-1 and Liz Greenhaugh. Or are you using a different numbering system? *** Nel

    3. Thanks Nel, re: 1713 Henrico For some reason I have Henry Hatcher "Sr" (Feb 1713) to Samuel Hancock & simply Henry Hatcher (Mar 1713) to Samuel Hancock I need to look back at my originals. Re: 1725 Henrico Isaac Robertson/John Martin/Henry Hatcher I need again to look at my originals Re: numbering system Ben-2/2nd gen (s/o Wm-1/1st gen the immigrant), thus Henry-3/Jane as 3rd gen.
