I, Thomas Bass of Green County and State of Kentucky being in sound mind and usual understanding, knowing that death is certain and not knowing when it may approach, do so constitute and ordain and establish this my last will and testament, First, I bequeath to my beloved wife Susanna for her use during her widowhood and in case she should not marry then during her life one negro man by the name of Tobe & one negro girl by the name of Lucy also the tracts of land whereon I now live, with all its appurtenances, also my household & kitchen furniture, and set of smith tools, also a11 my stock of horses, cattle, sheep and hogs, except so much of the proceeds thereof if any, as will be sufficient to procure my five youngest children a common English education which I wish to be applied to that care. Chuck, I know what you mean about drawers of material that has not been organized. I have an office the same way. I probably have all the info I ever needed, if I took the time to put it together. The chase is fun anyway. Everytime an email comes from your address, it gets kicked out as spam. I asked my ISP why and they said because most email addresses that contain the word biz is spam. How did you come up with biz in place of org, com, or net? Thought I would pass this along to you. Winnette
> A question, Chuck. How do you know his (Harriet Moody's husband) name > was Robert "Haskins" Hatcher? I don't have any record that even gives > a middle initial. That was the recollection of a great aunt, one of his granddaughters, for whatever it's worth*. I'm pretty sure I've seen his name somewhere else as "Robert H. Hatcher", maybe one of the censuses, but it may take me a while to find exactly where that was. *That family was very big on nicknames, so much so that a lot of them didn't know each others real names. My granddad James Fulton Hatcher was "Bess", his father Creed Haskins Hatcher was "Mugs" and his mother was "Lis". The death certificate for Lis says her name was Malissa, and my great aunt insisted to me that was true, but all the early census records show her as Solista/Salista. Maybe she didn't like it and told her kids she was named Malissa. Chuck
HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood I just checked all the census and found........ In 4 censi, Robert is always just Robert Hatcher. In 3 censi, she is Solisia (sorta), Lis, and Malissa E Hatcher but in censi pre-marriage, she is Solisia living with James and Mary E Clark. But Creed's DC shows her as Malissa and so does her own DC (both online). Her DC also says her father was Thomas Clark, not James, sooooooo.....! Nel
HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Chuck, That makes sense on the Moody Cemetery. I did a search yesterday and there's no online info on it. Being a family cemetery on the back 40 of someone's property tends to keep it off cemetery lists. Nel
HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Chuck, I just uploaded a lot of work on John Moody and fam. They had a bunch of kids, names unknown. Except I think they had a dau, Lily, who md George Yates. This fam was living with John/Nancy in the 1850. Also found a George Moody in GreenCo, bn c1780, who md Elizabeth WALKER 1803 in GreenCo. And Anny Moody to Josiah Bass, 1799; Margaret Moody to Andrew Smith, 1801. So we had a Moody family in GreenCo before 1799. Could be all 3 of these are siblings. John didn't marry til 1818. He MIGHT be the youngest sib. Then we have this....... Will Records of Green County, Kentucky 1796-1824 Green County Wills Book ?? OSPage: 84 Name: Thomas Bass Written: 1812 My wife, Susannah My eight children: Mosley, Judah, Robinson, Elizabeth, Thomas, Archibald, Peter, and Therisa Peter Bass, my brother and my wife, Exe. Witnesses: George Moody, Josiah Bass, and Lawrence Snapp Probated: March 1813 My guess - Josiah who md Anny Moody is bro of Thomas and Anny Moody is George's sister. In the 1790 Chesterfield Tax Lixt is Tom Bass Sr and Jr. Lots of Basses on that list. Of course we have our Hatchers and Haskins on that list but we also have Francis, James, John and BLANKS MOODY (I DO love that name :-) So I'd say all of these connected families came from Chesterfield between 1790-1810. A question, Chuck. How do you know his (Harriet Moody's husband) name was Robert "Haskins" Hatcher? I don't have any record that even gives a middle initial. Nel
I don't know if I've mentioned it on the list before, but it's been almost twenty years since I have done any work on my genealogy. Back then I was putting a lot of time and effort into it, traveling from courthouse to courthouse to library collecting information, in a very disorganized and amateurish fashion. So I have a few file cabinet drawers full of fragments of things that may or may not pertain to my ancestry, and it's been so long I don't remember where I got them all or how I thought they might fit. I just found a copy of a typewritten page titled MOODY CEMETERY. I don't know where I found it. It may have been in a genealogy newsletter or in a file drawer in a library somewhere. It credits O.C. & Loretta Edwards, Aileen Stanfield, and Hattie Blakeman, summer of 1972. Anyway, this is the pertinent part: "This cemetery is located in Green County on the farm of Tom Burress. It is enclosed by a stone wall..." (that would be Green County, Kentucky) "John Moody, born March 27, 1791, died Feb. 25, 1868" "Nancy F. Moody, wife of John Moody, born April 30, 1794, died Feb. 3, 1863" "Henry H. Moody, born Sept. 14, 1832, died Nov. 14, 1918" "Lucy E. Buckner, wife of Henry H. Moody, born Jan. 9, 1847, died July 21, 1929" (and a few more later Moody's and others, probably descendants of Henry H. Moody.) Chuck

(I think you meant to say they were daughters of Henry V b.~1755, not Henry IV b.1733.) Is there a scanned image available somewhere of the Henry Hatcher V/Nancy Haskins family bible pages? Thanks for the help, Chuck
> Something special for you (if you don't have it already). Find John > Moody c1791 on our file and check out his son.......... I see a son Henry Hatcher Moody b.1832 GreenCo KY. John Moody/Nancy F Hatcher also had a daughter Harriett N. Moody, b.1835, listed on your site as individual I13936, but not linked to John/Nancy. Harriett N. Moody married Robert Haskins Hatcher 2-May-1853. This Robert Haskins Hatcher b.~1829 was the son of Jeremiah Hatcher/Mary H. Waggener. This Jeremiah b.1787 ChesterfieldCo VA was Nancy F. Hatcher's brother (both were children of Henry Hatcher V/Nancy Haskins). So Robert Haskins Hatcher married his first cousin Harriett Moody. Their son Creed Haskins Hatcher was my great grandfather.

Dear Mr. 'Tony': It seems you have opened up a whole new can of worms. I realize this is the HATCHER site but all of info you are listing is involving so many others. In this last posting, I saw the name Henry Bradley. Yes, I have a Bradley line and am interested in your findings. I wish I could do what you are doing. It is so interesting to me. Anyway, I will be searching to find out if Rev War Richard Bradley is connected to this Henry Bradley. Keep up the good work . It is not only appreciated by so many...but...It gives 'our' sweet Nel a little something to do in her spare time. Many thanks to both of you. Linda Thank You Our JOINT FAMILIES seemed to have first settled in an Area that went thru a FEW Parish Changes and County Line Changes as some lived on the South Side of the APpottamox River Some on the North Side with Properties that touched on the South James River. They also intermarried numerous times with each other. The North Side of Appottomax is a line dividing Amelia, and Henrico Co. ( Bristol Parish). The South Side of the Appottomax of Henrico Co will fall into Prince George Co and its Counties that split from it. (Brunswick being one) Hatchers Run families will fall into Prince George Co. Still all neighbors on the Appottomax River but now in several different Counties. Those that had lands on the South James River go into Chesterfield Co. when it forms. I can not even address the Parish Changes from Henrico Parish and Westover Parish which had the James River as there original dividing lines in 1630 era. The Byrd and Stegg families will be found in Westover Parish (some of their lands have been identified by compass points as being in Current Chesterfield Co. ( Powhite Swamp Families) Contact me at TonyempireOre@msn.com<mailto:TonyempireOre@msn.com> and I will send you they files with the Henry Bradley names in it.
