So Henry/Nancy is back with his previous parents, Josiah/Ann > Eliz, where we know Josiah DID have a Henry bn c1755. You're right - one step forward two steps back. If things get bad enough, let me know and maybe I'll grab a shovel and collect some "vintage" DNA. Have any other "Green Co KY" Hatcher's (Henry/Nancy Haskins descendants) been tested? Maybe that would help to filter out any later mutations in the more recent generations. How do I contribute funds to the DNA project? Chuck

What I've done is to add the Kit# to the Medical field (between the birth and death dates) to every "father" in the tester's direct line back to the last "father" we can prove. This has been a very interesting project when I realized what our REAL problem is. We have a bunch of testers that track back to Edward thru William/Anne Burton and a few more of Edward's sons. We even have quite a few descending from Henry/Anne Lound and Henry/Anne had only ONE son. We have only TWO out of 41 testers who can be firmly proven to descend from Ben. That's a big, big problem. In addition we have had very generous donations to the Assn today of $400 with only $100 being targeted to a test expansion. We have the $$. We NEED testers. From Ben's line. From anyone with ancestors in Burke or JeffersonCo, GA. From descendants of Wm of SullivanCo, TN. From our Unc Hatchers. I'll be happy to talk to ANYONE who is interested in testing. Nel

HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Chuck, First, thank you very much for your generous contribution. Hopefully we can put it to good use. And, no, we do not have any other Henry/Haskins test results. I don't know how many have actually looked at our new chart but the one thing that stood out to me is that we simply do not have enough testers. We do not have testers matching on the important mutations to provide serious evidence of a close relationship or to provide clues for further research. The slow and medium marker matches are by far the most important but the fast movers can't be ignored either. I've gone thru the chart and would very much like to see the following testers expand. They, except the last, are all currently at 12m and an expansion to 37m would cost $99. An expansion of Wm/Pris would cost $49. Kit # 4778 - Tim/Mary.....ahatcher@ 4779 - Tim/Mary.....Graynelle@ 4783 - Rubin...........SVandu3784@ 4942 - Julius...........Joscher@ or joscher101@ 5191 - Jere/Log.....The Assn will be paying for this one 5504 - John/Ritta....JHat3030@ 9995 - Wm/Pris......mhatcher@ If any of the above are interested in or willing to expand, please let me know. I am also very interested in more descendants of Wm/Priscilla Nunnalee of GA and Wm/Joana of TN to consider testing. We clearly have some confusion in the results of those who have already tested for these families that it is necessary to have additional results. Beyond that, we simply need ANYONE and EVERYONE to consider testing with one exception - those who have had a brother, cousin or uncle already tested. This also, and very definitely, includes anyone on our Unc file. You have the opportunity to match any one of several family groups which will get you off the Unc file and into your correct family file, even if we can't yet make the paper trail connection. Anytime anyone from the Unc file connects to a family thru DNA, it provides invaluable research clues. You might even match our Hatcher from Mars whose test results are so unique that he can't even find a single match on ANY surname on 12 markers. Traditional research by itself produces proof of many connections but always leaves mysteries to be solved. DNA testing in conjunction with research CAN solve some of these mysteries. So that's my sales pitch, folks. If you're interested or have questions, please let me know. Nel

    2. Nel & WW, I would surmise, given the fact that Marshall James Hatcher was a slave broker, he was also an Auctioneer which would have earned him the title of "Colonel". That far back it probably was an honorary title. In this day and age, anyone graduating from an Auctioneering School is granted the title of Colonel. Ask Darleen, she did that when we lived in Mason City, IA. And I also rec'd the extended 38-67 results for both Kevin and Sam. These are ONLY on the new page at the moment. But these results have proven one very important fact. They have matched with our 2 Burton testers with only one minor mutation. I'm here to tell you - WE AIN'T BURTONS! These Burtons be's HATCHERS! This happy little accident seems to have occurred between 12 and 16 generations which is clearly on this side of the pond. I hope you'll check out the new chart and DO ask questions. I've had the pleasure of discussing results with a very knowledgeable gentleman who has helped me greatly in sorting out some of the details and also verifying some of my suspicions regarding what was looking to be impossible results. Caleb Henry and Spencer Hatcher are now the sons of Archibald and Elizabeth J LNU. Archibald appears to have died between 1820-1830 when we find Liz as HOH with the 2 boys. Nancy has already md George Hawkins. Liz appears to have died before 1836 when Caleb married with approval of his guardian, George Hawkins. ------------------------- Archibald who md Liz Dibrell is now the son of Henry of BuckinghamCo, VA. Henry was believed to be Henry who md Sophia Hatcher but the 1830 Buckingham census in no way fits Henry/Sophia. Nothing has changed for Henry/Sophia except to remove the 1830 Buck census from his page. Henry of Buckingham was born c1762 and was the brother of Josiah (the father of Henry/Sophia) who is living nearby in BuckinghamCo. Henry and Josiah are now the sons of Henry/Edith Clarke (pay attention, Chuck :-) ----------------------------- But Oops! Because of Chuck's DNA results, I just recently placed Henry/Nancy Haskins as son of Henry/Edith but had to create a 1st wife for Henry (Sr) because Henry Jr was bn 1755 and Henry md Edith c1761. 3. HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood #$%#$%^T^*^&(!#%^#$%#^&( Now that I've said THAT, I've just discovered a serious MESS and, once again, it involves those no good, rotten, miserable Henrys and Archibalds!!!! The first problem I found is that Caleb Henry/Florence Hurt (of BedfordCo) is NOT the son of Jeremiah/Elizabeth Jeter. Jeremiah's will (1816) ID'd NO Caleb (born c1816). In the 1820 Jere's widow showed only the 7 kids listed in the will. NO Caleb. When Caleb married as a minor, his guardian was George Hawkins who md Nancy Hatcher. Nancy is on our file as dau of Jeremiah. BUT when Nancy md Hawkins, her parents were listed as ARCHIBALD and Elizabeth Hatcher. So in looking at the 1820 Bedford census, I find Archibald Hatcher with 2 males 0-10, 1F 10-16. Sure enough looks like Caleb, Nancy and another son. BUT! Problem #2. This Archie is supposed to be he who md Elizabeth Dibrell. But their 1st child was born 1819 and Archie/Dibrell bn 1789 did not have a dau (Nancy) born 1804. And one source says that all of Archie/Dibrell's kids were born in that miserable burnt county of Buckingham! So what the #$^%^&^(* are they doing in Bedford? They WEREN'T! They couldn't have been. The Archie and Liz in 1820 Bedford have to be the parents of Nancy, Caleb and at least 1 more son. Now we go back to check out Buckingham to find Liz Dibrell's father, Anthony, and sure enough - there he is in the 1810. Now it is normal for the bride to marry in her home locale so I'm looking for the Hatchers in 1810 Buckingham and, OH LORDY, I find HENRY Hatcher just 3 doors from Anthony Dibrell and Henry has 2 sons 16-26, 1 son 0-10, 2 daus 0-10. And in 1810 Archie would be 21. Fits perfectly!!!! BUT! Problem #3. This Henry is supposed to be Henry who md Sophia Hatcher. dau of Julius/Nancy Hill of BEDFORD. But looking at his 1810 Buckingham census and comparing it to other records, his children's ages don't match the census AND it's recorded on his page without the 2 males 16-26. The 1810 Buckingham census for Henry is NOT the Henry who md Sophia. Buckingham Henry, age 26-45, is not a young Henry but an older Henry with 2 adult sons, 1 of whom has to be Archie who md Liz Dibrell. Straightening out Buckingham Henry, who BTW does land transactions with Josiah Hatcher, may help straighten out our DNA mess.....maybe! So I am going to do some major readjusting to straighten everyone out and then see what the landscape looks like. Remember that when I switch people around, I drag all the descendants with me, including DNA testers. It will be interesting to see if that happens and how it might reflect on our results. Two steps back, one step forward............! Nel
