Callahan County is located in west Texas. If you travel west on Interstate 20, you will pass through Callahan County just before you get to Abilene, Texas. I personally never heard of it either, but dug out my trusty map. It is a good distance from Navarro and Freestone Counties. I live in Limestone County which adjoins Freestone County and Navarro. HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Lynn, You're only looking at one of Guy's censi. He had 4 listed and in 2 of them, he gives his parents' bp as AL. Census info where someone is living with, boarding, or a lodger can be the least reliable since it's probably more likely the HOH or landlord who is giving the info. But the key was Guy's military record where he states his pob was FreestoneCo. And there would be no reason to assume he would be lieing about where he was born. Going to the 1880 Freestone census shows only one family - Richard and Geraldine. Guy's birth in 1882 fits right in with the normal gap between kids. Geraldine's 1910 census is obviously wrong when she states she had only 2 kids. It appears she claimed only those 2 kids who were still living at home. Note also that Richard died in NavarroCo and even though we can't find this family in the 1900 census, we DO find Guy in 1900 NavarroCo. Nel
Nell Thanks for the rationale Richard and Geraldine are found in 1900 residing in Callahan co. Nell, How did you connect Guy G Hatcher to Richard Johnson Hatcher Jr. and wife Geraldine Lily Sanders? Looking at the 1910 Navarro co Tx.census where Guy is enumerated in the household of Calvin Scroggins it indicates that Guy' parents are from South Carolina and Mississippi. Richard Johnson Hatcher Jr. and Lily were from Alabama . We know by the census that Richard and Geraldine had at least 4 children Judson, John Benjamin, Mary and Charles. Judson and John Benjamin disappear after 1880. The 1900 census has Mary and Charles residing at home,1910 census, Geraldine says she has two children and two living and shows Mary and Charles still at home. In 1910 they are residing in Navarro Co. Hi Nel, Thanks for asking for help with research on my behalf. My George Perkins is believed to be in NC as early as 1810 ( could be earlier) where his first son John W (Wesley?) is born per 1850 census. The only Geroge Perkins I find in the 1810 census in NC is in Richmond county. I dont know if that George is mine. There is no George Perkins in NC in 1820 census. Their daughter Nancy is thought to be born about 1816/7 in AL prior to its statehood, according to 1850 census. Other Perkins in Richmond county are Jacob and John, dont know if they are related, my George is unconnected as of yet. They had 8 known children. I was thinking if I could find any land records for George in NC around 1810, perhaps around Richmond county, I might be able to see if there were other Perkins with land records in the same area at the same time. Georges wife is Elizabeth b. about 1792/3 in NC, whose maiden name is still unknown. George and Elizabeth are my brick wall. Would love to connect them to somebody. I am thinking land patents would probably be my best starting point with finding other early 19th century Perkins records. Thanks for any and all help. Thanks for any help and direction where to research. Sue
HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Sue, To the best of my knowledge, your only option is the NC State Archives. I can't get into their site this morning to point you to the research request form. They also have a catalog where you can select the files/films where you might find your people. Research for NC residents is free, but not for non-residents. I worked with several of our NC Hatchers who submitted requests for me, costing me only their copying/postage costs when records were actually found. I'm pretty sure that if you've selected a film that's indexed, they are more willing to provide any record on that film regarding your surname. But it is also best to specify a specific person and ask if they would also include others of that surname, if found. Are their any of our NC residents who would be willing to work with Sue? Nel
Hatchers, I am brand new to researching NC genealogy records. Has anyone done any Hatcher research in NC regarding land records? I am looking for an online search database and as of yet have not found one with an online search link. Would welcome being pointed in a direction for this kind of research if it exists. Thanks for any and all help. Have a great weekend. Sue Dixey sodixey@hotmail.com

My next pass will be on Hatchers not born in TN but who died in TN. There were a few counties not on ancestry's dbase. SullivanCo was one of them. So if you're missing marriage info for your TN Hatchers, you might want to check them again. Nel
