Am I the only person who often receives duplicate emails from Rootsweb? I have had 2 of all the Hatcher mail today, not one behind the other, but at later times. I am receiving duplicates from the Ancestry Message board posts as well. You know me, I don't want to be the only one. I like to share my problems :) Winnette

Martha, Go to Google and type in "genealogy sites". Go to US Genealogy Sites by State by State. I clicked on Pennsylvania. There you have several options. So if the other link is not working or if I made a mistake typing it, try this?way of getting into it. -----Original Message----- From: NFarmWell@aol.com To: hatcher@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, 16 Jun 2008 10:00 pm Subject: Re: [HATCHER] US GenWeb Site with Quaker names In a message dated 6/16/2008 2:46:11 P.M. HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Shirley, I am still buried in data provided by our group and the documents rec'd from NJ yesterday. At this point, I'd ask that you hold off on more on the Rakestraws until I can catch up. As we progress, I suspect we will start pinpointing specific non-Hatcher individuals in an effort to tie them all together. But I've already seen many, many recognizable Quaker surnames all gathered in the same small area shown on the 1681 Penn plat map - Janney, Pancoast, Haines, etc. And while it seems obvious now that our Wm Hatcher was not born a Quaker, he and Nicholas were certainly surrounded by them. marrying into and traveling with........ Shirley, My Hatcher family is in the Dorset/Quaker line proven through my DNA testing. My great great grandfather was William Zane Hatcher born 1825 in Philly. His father was John born in NJ. Old family notes say that we are related to the Zane family somehow and I do have a photo from WZ's own family photo album circa mid to late 1800's showing a Nancy Ann Zane. I'm hoping some of these non-Hatcher names will prove to be a link to placing my family with the rest of the Philly/Bucks Co/Burlington Co Hatchers. I also remember coming across the name Rakestraw somewhere within my 10 years of family research but can not find anything in my notes so far. Thanks to you and all the posters for the help, Bob Hatcher Mountaintop, Pa. </HTML>
Is the info on these families helpful to anyone and do you want we to continue to trace these lines? The last one I'm related to is the Hannah Rakestraw that married Abraham Haines. But I will keep looking if it's helpful or I could look for connections with Lippincotts, Stokes, Skidmores & Inskeeps to name a few. Shirley Hatcher Ross

Many of these names can be found on the 1681 plat map so this is definitely the area both Wm and Nick were living. NO Hatchers there in 1693. Here is the description for this tax.... "the rate of one peny per poind upon the cleare vallue of all the real & personall estates & six shellings per head upon such as are not otherwaise rated by this act" So everyone got taxed at least 6 shillings, whether they owned property or not. http://ftp.rootsweb.ancestry.com/pub/usgenweb/pa/bucks/taxlist/1693tl01.txt?cj=1&o_xid=0001027214&o_lid=0001027214 Nel

HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Excellent, Gary! And you're right about those bonds. If it's anything like Rachel's bond in NJ, it'll be very informative. I had also wondered about Rebecca, Nick's wife. But while I have no problem believing an older wife may have left a husband, my thinking on this is that I still have a few stray Hatchers bn mid 1700s who seem born too late to be sons of men born 1700-1710. So I suspect we've still got some missing blanks in this pic. Another problem I'm seeing from the tax lists Ed sent is that Nick paid one of the smallest amounts compared to neighbors, indicating he owned only a small amount of land. Many times in this situation, you will find no will or estate recs because the kid(s) avoid the costs of court probating by agreeing among themselves on who gets what. That makes it tougher to find info on them and leaves us hunting for the more obscure records. Ed is ready to rock and roll again so will put the Lucy Robbins collection on his list....... Nel
