It's nothing more than a jigsaw puzzle. The only difference is that they don't give you all the pieces but instead make you find the pieces. And we've had lots of elves out there finding those pieces. But, no, we ain't helping you find a Zane Gray connection. You're on your own with that one, me friend :-) Nel

    2. Amazing, Nel. You're like a modern day Sherlock Holmes. I always knew that Zane name would play a part in all of this someday. Another piece of hand me down family info is that somehow we are related to the writer Zane Gray. But that is for another day. Bob Hatcher </HTML>

    1. Re: [HATCHER] Rakestraws or Zanes
    2. Bob, I'm still looking at Rakestraws. Found a William R. Rakestraw about?1830 or so but no William Zane. I was wondering if you know what your 3rd great grandfather's wife's name was? There are lots of John Hatchers but haven't found one that fits. If I find anything, I'll let you know. Shirley -----Original Message----- From: Hatchers291@cs.com To: hatcher@rootsweb.com Sent: Mon, 16 Jun 2008 2:18 pm Subject: Re: [HATCHER] Rakestraws or Zanes Shirley, My Hatcher family is in the Dorset/Quaker line proven through my DNA testing. My great great grandfather was William Zane Hatcher born 1825 in Philly. His father was John born in NJ. Old family notes say that we are related to the Zane family somehow and I do have a photo from WZ's own family photo album circa mid to late 1800's showing a Nancy Ann Zane. I'm hoping some of these non-Hatcher names will prove to be a link to placing my family with the rest of the Philly/Bucks Co/Burlington Co Hatchers. I also remember coming across the name Rakestraw somewhere within my 10 years of family research but can not find anything in my notes so far. Zane, Rachel Married: Feb. 01, 1790 in: Gloucester, NJ Gender: F Source: County Court Records Film number: 0850324 Spouse name: Hackett, William Spouse gender: M Nah, you say?? He's a Hackett, not a Hatcher?? Au contraire, says Nel (who may go down in flames with this one :-) William is the right name. Rachel is the right name. The estate papers I'm waiting for refer to him as William (Hacker) Hatcher, indicating a problem with the spelling or legibility of the doc. 1790 is exactly the right marriage date based on known ages of her sons. The Zane name smacks you between the eyes and....... Wm and Rachel had ....son John who md Ann Van Horn ........grandson Wm ZANE Hatcher (named for both mom and dad). How much better can it get?? But still need the documents to confirm my theory. Nel

    3. I think if you're on individual messages, you're more likely to get duplicate messages, depending on how the listowner/mods have the list set up. Doesn't seem to happen if a subscriber is on digest. Just for fun, I'm going to send two test messages and see what happens.
