But do understand that ideas don't constitute proof. Remember, too, that Ala Bob, Joyce, W W and I have spent 10 yrs poring over every record available on this family, finally realizing that not one of them can connect Robert to John. When you get those ducks in a row, I'll be open to a discussion :-) Nel

Author: DorisPetty87 Surnames: Hatcher - Ennis - Hockaday - Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hatcher/1876/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hubert Edwin Hatcher Hubert Edwin Hatcher died July 10 after an extended illness which he handled with grace and courage. He was born Dec. 21, 1932 to Edwin and Mabel Hatcher who preceded him in death. Hatcher was a graduate of N.C. State University and the UNC School of Dentistry. Two years were spent serving in the Army Dental Core, after which he thoroughly enjoyed practicing dentistry in Cary for 35 years. He often said there was never a day that he dreaded going to work. He loved his patients and they returned this love in full measure. Hatcher had a deep and unshakable faith in his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. He had a kind, gentle, humble spirit, but was a man of incredible strength. His steadfast faith in God and his positive, optimistic spirit were an inspiration to his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he served his savior in many capacities throughout his life. There was a special place in his heart for the "Men's Fellowship Sunday School Class" and the "Above and Beyond Men's Group." Life to him was truly an adventure meant to be lived each day to its fullest. He had a keen appreciation of nature and the beauty of God's creation. Many of the happiest days of his life were spent fishing out of Atlantic Beach with his precious son Mike, who preceded him in death. Survived by the family he cherished, protected, guided and held so near to his heart are his wife Peggy Ennis Hatcher, daughter Susan Hatcher of Cary, son Greg and his wife Angie of Cary, granddaughter Allison of Cary, grandson Christopher and his wife Sarah of Fuquay-Varina, brother Sid and his wife Becky, sisters-in-law Betty Hockaday and Reda Ennis, many special nephews and nieces, and his loyal, loving supportive Good Hope Baptist Church family. A service celebrating his life and home going will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday July 12 in Good Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Vaughn will conduct the service. Burial will be private, preceding the funeral service, at 10 a.m. in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at his home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Good Hope Baptist Church building fund, 6628 Good Hope Church Rd., Cary, NC 27519. HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Folks, Joyce has raised a most interesting situation regarding the maiden name of Maj John's wife, Mary BRADY. She has pointed out that the connection appears to have been made from the fact that both Robert (no longer considered to be John's father) and Patrick Brady both had land grants placing them in the same area on the Savannah river. You will say that John named his 1st born Jeremiah Brady, but did he? John Jr's bible states: Page 678: BIRTHS 1st COLUMN Jeremiah B. Hatcher was Born February 26th 1813 We have 2 additional records on Jeremiah where he is listed only as Jere and Mr Jerry Hatcher. On our file John's dau, Nancy (md Wm Hancock) has their 1st son as Jeremiah Brady Hancock, but was that his middle name? I have only 1 census for J B Hancock and he is simply listed as Jeremiah. Where are we getting this Brady name from? Anyone have any sourceable input on this Brady name?? Nel Does anyone have proof that was

    3. Hey Y'all, I don't know what to say! I'm glad my computer doesn't have a camera attached so you can't see me blushing. Seriously, I really, really appreciate the honor of being elected as a Life Member. And, I can honestly say that (other then raising my children) nothing has been more fun and more satisfying than genealogy research. It has not only provided family history of my many ancestors, but has made it possible for me to meet many, many "new" relatives both in person and through the internet. I now correspond with kin from coast-to-coast. Very exciting. As to the different family forums/websites that I visit, I have to say that our HATCHER website is the most outstanding in every way. KUDOS to you all who contribute and many, many thanks to Miss Nel who gives so much of her time and expertise to keep us on the right track. Thank you and God Bless, Joyce > > Cuzins, > > Today the nomination of Joyce Rape Harrison to Life Member was submitted and approved by the HFGA Board. > > Joyce has 30+ yrs of research experience and has been one of the main contributing members to the Maj John 10 yr research project. Her contributions of records and documents accumulated over her years of research (and sometimes heading to the library for more searching), her analysis and understanding of those documents and her input to the hundreds of discussions were invaluable in sorting out the mystery of "Robert", which would eventually lead me to the solution of John's parents. > > Thank you, Joyce, from the very bottom of me heart. 2. Sorry, can't help you out there. All I remember was writing Dr. Walker years ago that Unc. Charlie married once for love, Lucy, once for money, once for lust and once for old age benefits. I'll see if Shirley knows or has the info and if not perhaps since she is in touch periodically with some of his grandchildren perhaps she can get that info. Sorry.
