Nel, "L C" was my father's given name. Lizzie Johnson was a frustrating search for me. I think I did something wrong. I know I can get the names of two siblings. One name I know (a sister), I just can't remember it right now. My Aunt Mary married twice. You won't believe this. She married a Hatcher the first time around. I can find out from my Aunt Willie Mae when they moved to Kentucky. Thanks, Loretta -- "nelhatch" <nelhatch@hills.net> wrote: HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Loretta, You mentioned that L C had 11 (I think?) sibs. Other than Mary, do you know their names? I also found a Lizzie Johnson in the 1930 with several kids but no L C. Was L C just a nickname? And do you know what years Mary had the care of L C and his sister? If it was before 1930, we might find them in KY. Was Mary married and if so, what was her married name? Hey Nel, Thanks for your advice. In fact, Winnette beat me to the search! She sent a bunch of listings from whitepages.com. Unless you have some names to work with, it's really hard to find living relatives. And it sounds like your dad was removed from his place of birth fairly young. I don't have any experience looking for the living so have only one idea. That would be to see if there are any Hatchers still living in the Orrville area (using a White Pages search) and just start calling with your fingers crossed. Anyone else have any suggestions? Hi J Alan, Thanks for all of the information! Of course left out an important piece of the puzzle, but you figured it out. Yes, I am African American. I also ran across the 1930 census information on Ben Hatcher on ancestry.com and saved it in my shoebox. I thought there might be something there too. Loretta -- "J. Alan Hatcher" <jahatcher@gmail.com> wrote: There is a record on ancestry.com that I believe matches up to your Ben Hatcher, based on the information you gave earlier. In the 1930 Census, there is a woman named Annie Moore who lives in Precinct 35 of Dallas County, Alabama. She was 50 years old at the time. She had a sister named Lucy Henry living with her who was 48 years old. A son named Ben Hatcher who was 30 years old, and a granddaughter named Ora Moore, who was 7 years old, also lived there. The only issues I see is that the Ora Moore on the census would have been born about 1923, and you said your father's cousin Ora D was 83, which would have her being born about 1925. That's still pretty close though. This is also an African American family in the census, and you didn't indicate your father's race, so I don't know if that matches. HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Hey Y'all We just got results on the first of our upgrade tests. And it's a good one. Tester 9995, a descendant of Wm/Pris, matches perfectly to our Ed testers, including Maj John. Two other Wm/Pris testers had mutations that made it impossible to place them until we got this perfect match. For those 2 testers, it appears the mutations have occurred between Edward and themselves. Check it out at http://hatcherfamilyassn.com/DNAWork.htm And I'm betting the rest of our upgrades will be coming in rapidly in the next few days. Nel
