The Butler County native was a son of the late Stella Sorrells Hatcher and George Hatcher. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ingalls; two brothers; and two sisters. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Chapel, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Eva Allene Cook was born June 7, 1917, in Verdon, Neb. She was a beautician, seamstress, homemaker, dry cleaner and drapery shop owner, apartment manager and Avon district manager. She lived in several states, including California, Oregon, Idaho and Washington. She moved to Portland in 1998. In the 1930s, she married Alfred Filatreau; they divorced. She later married Lew Donaldson; he died earlier. In the late 1980s, she married Loren Hatcher; he died in 1997. Survivors include her daughters, Jill A. Filatreau Bills and Sandra K. Filatreau Paynter; sisters, Jane Cook Herbster and Ann Cook Hahn; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her daughter Susan M. Filatreau Robinson died in 2006. Arrangements by Omega. Born in Port aux Basque, N.L., he was a son of the late Nathan and Dinah (LeRiche) Hatcher. He had a lifelong love of both the sea and his family. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas from 1939 to 1945 with the Royal Canadian Navy on overseas convoy duty. Wilfred worked for DND in the Canadian Naval Auxiliary Fleet until his retirement from the CNAV Quest in 1981. He is survived by "the love of his life", his wife of 65 years, Lucy (Cutler); daughters, Karen (Melvin) Burt, Edmonton, Alta.; Kathy, Halifax; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, W. Brent; his uncle, Simeon, and aunt, Lily Hatcher, who raised him, and brother, James. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held in J.A. Too bad there is no way of knowing if this HATCHER/CREWE connection is my tree or another well documented HATCHER/CREWE tree in Newfoundland (yes both of them) and there is no apparent connection at this time...
