Hi Hatchers, I live about 30 miles north of Galveston Island. Ike's winds were wicked and wild. A rough time but Hatchers are resilient, to say the least! Glad to hear you are ok too, Bikerbob. Nel: Do you know if this is MY Ebenezer (father of Annie)? Dang, I wish we had someone in our family who could be tested! Oh well... Keep up the good work! Suzy ----- Original Message ----- From: nelhatch To: HATCHERLIST Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2008 12:17 PM Subject: [HATCHER] Interesting DNA updates.......... HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Good morning, cuzins! Yesterday we rec'd results for our NY Hatcher from England and we now have our 3rd tester matching the Kent, England family. This family came from Kent to NY, OH and WI. And you may not remember Ebenezer Hatcher of GA but his test results are very rare and for over at least 2 yrs has never had a match to anyone, regardless of surname.........until yesterday. This match is quite intriguing since Eben matched to a family out of Scituate, MA going back to the 1500s. Their surname? HATCH! I find this interesting because we have an unc Hatcher family that I've tracked back to MD to a Thomas Hatcher bn bef 1683 whose name in the records is as often Hatch as it is Hatcher. His father may have been a John Hatch bn bef 1634 whose records are consistently spelled Hatch. One descendant, if my research is correct, is a John Hatcher bn c1820 in MD who ended up in KY. So far, I've never had a contact for this family. The results we're receiving lately are opening up more and more possibilities for matches, particularly for those of you with Unc Hatchers. The special sale for $119 on the 37 marker test will continue thru Sept 30th. If you're still vacillating, pondering, considering, procrastinating, don't wait too long! Contact me if you have questions and I'll be happy to work with you. HATCHER website: http://hatcherfamilyassn.com HALL DNA project: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~nhatcher/hall/HDNAtest.htm "If you can't stand the skeletons, stay out of the closet" - Val D Greenwood Folks, I just rec'd this msg from FTDNA concerning their situation in Houston. Those involved in DNA testing, please read. Nel ---------------------- Dear Customers, As a follow-up to our letter informing you of the level of preparedness Family Tree DNA established regarding the coming of Hurricane Ike to Houston, we are coming to you now to update you on our status post-Ike. a) As you may know, all of our standard Y-DNA and mtDNA tests are processed at the lab in Arizona, and therefore, this processing has not been affected at all. b) Also, as we advised previously, we have taken appropriate measures to safeguard and protect the data and our servers and therefore all computer systems are in place and functioning normally. You may have noticed that our web sites have been up, available, and are running normally as they were before and during the storm. c) The building where Family Tree DNA's offices and Houston laboratory are located is without power, like most of Houston office buildings, and sustained damage, like so many other Houston office buildings. This means that the building will be closed for the next few days until it is ready for tenants to return. Despite this situation, several members of our staff have worked over the weekend to transfer equipment to other locations so that our normal office operations can resume on Monday, or at the latest on Tuesday, from an alternate location. All postal mail will be picked up normally at our local post office, so that kits can be checked-in and processed normally. d) The coming days will allow us to have a better assessment of when our Houston lab will resume normal operations, at which point we will be back to you again with additional information about any delays in delivering results for the advanced tests that our lab processes in Houston. (Advanced panels, FGS and Deep Clade Y SNP's) Please forgive us if in the next few days we don't meet our standard level of customer service as to e-mails and phone calls. We will be back to normal as soon as possible. We appreciate your continued support . E-mail us anytime!
