So go read a good book :-) Nel
Nell, Maybe you need to remind the server tech's that we are a large group of unhappy campers who will remember the length of time that we were not able to access the site. This will not bode well for any of us to be potential buyers of their product for our own personal use. Nel and Hatcher family, I don't know if anything on this page is helpful, but some of you might read through it and see if you see anything that might help us out. I miss not being able to view our files. - Wayne Hatcher http://eogn.typepad.com/eastmans_online_genealogy/2004/06/the_next_genera.html
Yep, that would be bizarre if we discriminated against non-AOL browsers. Perhaps knowing that is at least part of the issue, tho, can help figure out the "fix." Hopefully some of out more technical (I won't say more geeky) members can shed some insight. The TNG software has not been altered in any way. My server claims it's not their problem. They claim they've made no changes to my particular server. Yet suddenly on Monday evening our site is out of commission. Again, I'm far from an expert, but I see no way this could have anything to do with our software but if our server screwed up somehow, it would seem many other sites with a search engine on their site and residing on that same server would be experiencing the same problems. Hi Nel, Sorry to be so slow (was watching college feetballs). Looked for Jesse's wife Susanna and failed to get anything but a H F G A Masthead and a blank page except for the magnifying glass and the words "Search Results". Tried Jesse, same result. No luck! I search with AOL and I can search the Hatcher site. Don't know what is making the difference, though. BB and Nel, I'm guessing it's that he signs on to AOL and uses their browser instead of using IE or Mozilla. He has the AOL software loaded as the browser itself. I have an AOL email address, but don't use the AOL browser. I use Mozilla at home and IE at the office, and go the www.AOL.com to retrieve email only. I'm going to try the search from home with Mozilla. I sounds like there may be corrupted file or files somewhere causing a problem. This could be what they mean when they say it is the software.
