    3. Judith, I just tried to call Jeanne and got a voice mail to leave a message. I really didn't want to call, as she is one of the people older than me. She was born 17 November 1928! I just sent her an e-mail and asked her to call me and that I would call her right back on my nickel, but the e-mail address no longer exists and I suspect that the phone number is no longer hers. I'm sure we talked before, but I couldn't find you in my file. John Burton's dau Mary married 1st, John Davis and 2nd, William Glover. But John did have a dau Ann as mentioned in the will of his son, John Jr, dated 1679. All this can be found on the file. My guess is that Ann died unmarried before 1690 when John Sr's will was written. The marriage rec for Wm Hatcher states only that he married a dau of John Burton. Seems everyone had assumed she could only be Ann or Rachel, finally settling on Ann because of her release of dower on a Hatcher deed dated 1704. But when a married dau dies without children, as it appears is the case with William's wife, the odds of finding her name in any record is slim. John Jr's will, 1679, mentions the 3 children of sister Rachel [no surname] and Sr's will mentions his dau, Rachel BURTON. Her children were illegitimate and it's always been my belief that they had a Hatcher father, producing the Burton line that matches our Hatcher DNA. We seem to be on a roll with illegitimate kids lately :-) Nel

    3. Nel, Re: Wm Hatchers's wife Ann I have often wondered why Wm & Ann did not have their fist child till abt 13 yrs later (by 1695) from the time of their marriage which I find odd. John Burton does not mention a daughter Ann but he mention his other two daughters Mary Glover & Rachel Burton in his 1690 will. He also mentions grandchildren with surname "Davis". To whom did they belong? Were they children of a dec'd daughter? Makes one wonder if John Burton actually had a daughter Ann or if she died w/o children before Johns will in 1690. 3. Nel, You might be on to something. I have all the pictures available from my line. Included is a picture of a distinguished looking gent named Anderson Duncan. I thought he might be Mary Malinda's father. I have never been able to find him in any census. My aunt Lucille, who I spent a lot of time with, was raised by James Duncan Hatcher's son, James Orlando Hatcher and inherited all the pictures and folklore. She was born only 7 and 9 years after they died. She said she thought the Duncans were from Sandusky or Sandusky county, Ohio. I have talked to several of the descendants of Maud Hatcher, the only provable illegitament child of James Duncan, but they thought they came from California. But I have never been able to find an Anderson Duncan in any census. Somehow, I never thought of Anderson being a brother. Lucille said James Duncan Hatcher fathered 2 other illegitament children but she had no other info. There is another loose Hatcher in Harden county, Ohio, the county just above Logan county, where James Duncan was a school teacher! Paul

Zachariah Duncan is the father of both Anderson and Mary Malinda who md James Duncan Hatcher. I found the deed of a land purchase for Zach with the Sec/Twp description. Then later, I found this same land being sold by Malinda, Anderson, Margaret, and another dau, Elizabeth. All the recs haven't been found but each is selling 1/7 of each parcel of land so we know 7 kids survived. Check out http://hatcherfamilyassn.com/getperson.php?personID=I215074&tree=UncHat for all the data collected for Zach and kids. Now that I know who this family is, tomorrow I will be transferring Zach et al, along with Robert L Hatcher, to the Quaker file. Don't yet know who Robert's daddy is but we've narrowed down the suspects! Linda - there's no Lewis Hatcher in the 1860 but there is a Lewis "Stadter" which if you try hard enough could be guessed as Hatcher. Nel
