They had Jane E. Trabue and Cynthia Trabue. I can follow the line from Jane to today's large family. We show Trabue as being Strabo dating to 1660s. Aha! I narrowed it down and I'll try to find it this week or next. It is Rucker Cemetery, named for the family of Lucy Rucker, wife of William Hatcher (b1793). http://www.theruckerfamilysociety.org/V10_N2.pdf I even found the historical marker on Google Maps. Zoom in from this link to street view. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=Owen+Hill+Rd&hl=en&geocode=FXIYIgIdX2PU-g&mra=mr&sll=35.782623,-86.734014&sspn=0.01974,0.045447&ie=UTF8&ll=35.789586,-86.744313&spn=0.019738,0.045447&t=p&z=15
Dear Hatcher researchers: Perhaps you all have already seen this website, but just in case some on here have not, here is the link. It has quite a bit of information of the Hatchers who settled in and around Franklin, TN (Williamson County) and Thompson Station. http://www.tngenweb.org/williamson/history/tsfamhisHL.html Happy New Year!!!! Looks like I need a better address on our site. Sounds like Owen Hill Rd would be more correct. And not that I'm PUSHY [who, me?], but TAKE A CAMERA! :-) If they're still legible, you gotta' have a lot of really old stones in there - assuming it isn't an overgrown snake fest. Maybe we can get a volunteer to get them set up on Findagrave, too......not that I'm thinking ahead or anything......... Nel
Yeah, the other cemetery was a sidetrack. I'm getting closer. Here's a map that shows Bethesda-Arno Rd intersecting with Hatcher Ln. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=Bethesda-Arno+Rd&hl=en&geocode=FZTUIQIdXOnT-g&mra=mr&sll=35.768487,-86.782776&sspn=0.004901,0.011362&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=16 There's a "Bond Cemetery" shown on the map, but I can't find an online listing of the graves for it. The good news is that this road is less than 10 miles from my new job, so I can check it out soon at lunch. RUCKER CEMETERY (DESTROYED) OH-34: NASHVILLE, DAVIDSON COUNTY, TN. E. Ashland Drive According to family descendants, the Rucker Cemetery was destroyed by developers in the early 1960's. Fifteen or twenty tombstones were removed from the cemetery and carted away. The graves remained on the site. Family members reported the location of the cemetery site to government authorities and today the cemetery is marked on the Metro Planning Commission property map. In January, 2004, descendants were identified and asked to send to the Davidson County Cemetery Survey project the names of those known to have been buried in the cemetery. Persons with additional information about the Rucker Cemetery are asked to return to the Home Page, click-on "Report A Cemetery" and send an email. Could be a mix up. Here's the map of E. Ashland Drive, which the web site says the cemetery is located on. It's only a few miles north of Williamson county. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=E.+Ashland+Drive,+Nashville,+Tn&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=40.86791,93.076172&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=E+Ashland+Dr,+Nashville,+Davidson,+Tennessee+37215&ll=36.066064,-86.832376&spn=0.010216,0.022724&t=h&z=16 On Tue, Dec 29, 2009 at 7:47 PM, nelhatch <[email protected]> wrote: > > > I do suspect this cemetery has a name other than Rucker. Those buried in this Rucker cem are Wm Hatcher/Lucy Rucker and their descendants. DavidsonCo is adjacent to Williamson but those boundaries didn't change for years so I'm not seeing a boundary movement here. I do suspect this cemetery has a name other than Rucker. I've not checked out these sites yet...... Nel -------------------- I have collected obits for many years, and have some of them in Indexes on-line at the Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society website at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~arnwags Most all I have collected (thousands upon thousands) are indexed, although some are not ready to put on the site yet. There is an order form on the site, that gives the information needed to get copies from NAGS. There are quite a few for your Hatcher and Galyean family that are buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Hiwasse, Benton Co. AR. I and a friend have photographed all of Mount Pleasant Cemetery, and over 60 other cemeteries in Benton Co.
