SBFleisc Do you have a copy of the 1870 Alabama Census for James Monroe Harvey? I think that J.M. Harvey moved from Alabama to Texas in 1870, because on the 1870 Census in Texas he is listed. On the 1870 Texas Census it says his first son Johnathan was born in Alabama. On the 1880 Texas Census it says his first son Johnathan was born in Texas. The 1870 Census Index for Alabama doesn't list a J.M. HARVEY or a James Monroe HARVEY. There is a J. N. HARVEY listed in Lee Co. Alabama. The N. initial could be a typographical error. I think your James Monroe HARVEY and my J. M. HARVEY could be the same person, but I can't think of how we could link them unless there is a Census record record in Alabama that lists James Monroe HARVEY as having a wife named Martha and a son namd Johnathan. They may have moved to Texas before the census was taken in 1870 in Alabama. Have you checked either of the HARVEY web sites for decendants of Lemuel HARVEY? I think i'll try that. Sorry to ramble on so much, but I think we could have the same person, its just hard to document. I'll let you know if I find out anything else.
