    3. Seeking any pre- & post- Civil War information on my GGF John H Harvey b. 3-8-1825 (poss. Halifax Co, NC) d. 12-13-1896 Clay Co, TN 2nd Spouse: Mary Margaret Johnson b. 6-23-1853 Overton Co, TN m. circa 1877 d. 12-19-1933 Clay, TN, second daughter of Willson R. Harvey Colson b. 7-1889 Cora E. Harvey b. 5-13-1892 d. 8-23-1892 William M. Harvey b. 10-27-1894 d.12-1984 John H Harvey served with the 20th TN Cav (CSA) probably Sep 1863 & March 25, 1864. Most of 20th TN Cav was recruited out of Henry & Gibson Cos, TN to serve in Col Russell's Regiment under General Nathan Bedford Forrest. During Forrest's raid on Paducah, KY on March 25, 1864, believe John H Harvey left command and swam the Ohio River to change sides. Later, John is listed in 1890 Census of Federal CW veterans as assigned to Co K 4th East TN Cav (USA)[aka 4th TN Mounted Infantry (USA)or 4th TN Cav (USA)] with residence at Speck, Clay Co. Speck is about 2 miles east of Monroe, TN along the West Fork of the Obey River. He raised his family in Harvey Hollow along Heard Ridge in Overton/Clay Cos near Dale hollow Lake. Believe John H Harvey's pre-CW roots are more in western Tn rather than Overton/Clay Cos. Strongly suspect John H Harvey is a great grandson from the Col Thomas Harvey & Sara Williams line (Halifax Co NC) through their second son Thomas Harvey & Nancy Porter line based on repeated usage of common family names derived from 'Onesiphorus' first name (i.e. Northumberland Co VA to Halifax Co on into TN). Would be particularly interested in 1870 TN Census in trying to isolate John H Harvey during the period after the CW (1865) to his arrival in Overton/Clay (circa 1876) with two young kids (Bart Harvey and Babe Harvey Long)from 1st marriage(spouse & location - unk)in tow. Would welcome any help. Warmest regards to all Harvey researchers in '98. Larry Harvey
