Dear Sister, It is with the greatest of pleasure that I take the present opportunity of writing to you to let you know that we are well at present. Hoping these lines may find you all the same and all enjoying the love and blessings. I received your letter the 21st of May, 1862. I was quite glad to receive your letter to hear you were all well. you wrote that you had very hard times. I was very sorry to hear such news, for I have experienced such myself. there is a great talk of freedom of the Negr but for my part don't see what they want with the weak, low minded things, turned loose among us... This is all the cry where they already gave freedom to a numbe of them. There is free ones not more than 15 miles from me. If we had the union as it was would be good, but it looks like was impossible to get back. Times are very hard. Money is hard to get, it was a while back. I am now living with Wilson, I am going to housekeep soon on my place. you wrote to me that we might now fall out on politicks. I think just as much of you as I ever did. your politics be what they may. you wrote me you would like me to come see you and you would rather see me than anybody else. I had rather see you and siter Rhoda than anybody in the world...I would like to come see you, but can write to me as when you can. Would like to know something of Rhoda and know how she is doing. So no more at present but still remain your loving sister until called to a better world, where we part no more. Lucy Estes To Verlinda Lawrence Rhea Hope no one is offended by this letter. It just life. ==== HARVEY Mailing List ==== Web Archives http://lists.rootsweb.com/~archiver/lists/HARVEY-L/
