The Daily News (Halifax, NS), Friday, July 18, 1997: HARVEY, John McKinley - 70, 15 Pleasant Street, Hantsport, Hants County, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Victoria General Site. Born on May 18, 1927 in Hortonville, Kings County, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary (Smythe) Harvey. He was employed with Canadian Keyes Fibre, Hantsport for 39 years as a millwright, retiring in 1991. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Hughes; two daughters, Lynda Henderson, Karen Gillott, both of Hantsport; one son, John F. Harvey, Hantsport; eight grandchildren; six sisters, Freda Snobelen, Georgetown, Ont.; Nancy Holman, Mississauga, Ont.; Janet Doust, Toronto; Margaret Bancroft, Gail Herbin, both of Wolfville; Gwen Larson, Tantallon, Halifax County; one brother, Arthur Harvey, Comox B.C.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Jane Harvey; two brothers, Bob and Bill Harvey. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home. Family flowers only. There will be no visitation by request. A graveside commital service will be held 2 p.m. today, July 18, 1997 at the Riverbank Cemetary, Hantsport, Rev. John Patterson officiating. A reception will follow in the St. James' United Church Vestry, Hantsport.
