Sandston, VA >From the Richmond Times-Dispatch 7/5/97 HARVEY Mr. James W. (Waddey) Harvey Jr., of Sandston, died Friday, July 4, 1997. Mr. Harvey was an outstanding athlete at Highland Springs High School and Virginia Tech. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at both schools in 1995. He was a member of the Buffalo Bills Football Team from 1969 to 1972, prior to returning to the Richmond area and working for Henrico County Recreation & Parks. As president of Atlantic Management, Inc., he successfully produced events such as the NBA Players, Save Our Neighborhoods Celebrity Golf Tournaments. In 1993 he joined the Virginia Tech Sports Network. Mr. Harvey was an active alumnus of Virginia Tech, where a room in the new athletic building has been named in his honor. He is survived by his wife, Sheila O. Harvey; one son and daughter-in-law, James (Jay) G. and Lisa K. Harvey of Roanoke; one daughter, Stacie Leigh Harvey of Richmond; one granddaughter, Kendyl Jeane Harvey; his mother, Marjorie C. Harvey; one brother and sister-in-law, Stephen C. and Virginia Ellen Harvey; two nephews, Bain Harvey and Shane Beamer; one niece, Casey Beamer; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank M. and Cheryl O. Beamer of Blacksburg; several aunts, uncles, cousins, caring neighbors and numerous friends. His remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 12 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church, where Mr. Harvey was a member. Interment Washing- ton Memorial Park.
