Anniston, AL, Anniston Star, 1997-6-30 Harvey BIRMINGHAM--Funeral services for Joyann Catherine Harvey, 67, of Birmingham will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood, and at 1:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Anniston. Burial will be in New Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 tonight. Mrs. Harvey, formerly of Anniston, died Saturday. Survivors include her husband, Frank Constantine Harvey of Birmingham, a daughter, Connie Ann Harvey Burkhart; a son, Davis Edward Harvey; her mother, Pearl Ferguson Nolen; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Harvey received her bachelor's degree in social work from the University of Montevallo and worked as a juvenile probation officer for the Department of Pensions and Securities in Anniston. She later trained with the National American Red Cross Waterfront Training Program and was employed as a water safety instructor at Camp Cottaquilla Girl Scout Camp. She later became camp director for Camp Cottaquilla and was employed by the Cottaquilla Girl Scout Council as field director, where she organized troops and neighborhood centers for the integration of seven counties. Mrs. Harvey then moved to Birmingham, where she worked 11 years as a volunteer at the University Hospital. She received her master's degree in social work from the University of Alabama and then worked as a kidney transplant social worker at University Hospital until her retirement in January 1966. She was a licensed certified social worker and held a private independent practice license. She was also a member of the National Kidney Foundation and the Academy of Social Workers.
