Olds Alberta>Trail BC; Trail Daily Times; 1997-9-23 HARVEY, Sydney Melville - passed away Saturday, September 20, 1997 at the age of 91 years at Poplar Ridge Pavillion after a lenthy illness. Syd was born on September 30, 1906 in Olds, Alt. He worked at Cominco for 25 years and retired in 1971. His hobbies were birds and gardening. Syd is survived by two daughters, Corine Halladay of Salmo, Yvonne (Ritchie) Johnson of Castlegar, and one son, Norman (Pearl) Harvey of Innisfail, Alta; two granddaughters, four grandsons, and two great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by his wife, Vera, in 1976, one granddaughter, and one grandson. Cremation to be handled by Carberry's Funeral Home of Trail. No memorial by request. Donations may be made to Lung Foundation. ---- This was an added note from the person that sent me the obit: Ruth: I knew this man a little over the past 20 years as a quiet, unassuming man who befriended everyone he met. He was especially nice to a friend of mine when that man was needing help. Syd helped him and when Syd needed a bit of a "boost" he found he was repaid in spades.
