I found out some more info on the Harvey lines from viewing the microgilm I rented and going through records I already had. I learned certain things. I will try as always to base my summary on the information I gathered from sources and will list them at the bottom. I also will include the linage of the first Harvey I have and his 3 sons that came over from England. This Chart has not been documented in whole. The dates that are listed are from records from NC in Periquims County. You will notice all dates and places born are from NC but that was part of Albermarle County VA before becoming NC. I would like to say that when I believe the early information is wrong I in no way wish to take away from the fine research that was done in this area and the people who did this research. My hats off to them. More information is coming to light that some of the older information is probably able to be proven false. First I will start off with what I believe to be the four Harvey brothers father from Lunenburg County VA.. His name is John Harvey (1) John Harvey bought land from a Samuel Frye in Edgefield County formerly Granville. The land was for 200 Acres on the Savannah River in Edgefield County SC.. John Harvey at his death passed it on to his son William Harvey. William Harvey died and the executer's of his estate passed the land off to Zephaniah and his wife Nancy Harvey. Zephaniah at the time was in Hancock County Georgia. The deed was Proven May 25,1797 and Recorded Oct. 17, 1797. John Harvey is known to have 4 sons who were in Lunenburg County VA. (2),(3),(4),(5),(6). They were John Harvey born abt 1700, Thomas Harvey born abt 1705-1710 and died in 1782 in Charloette County VA.. William Harvey born abt 1710-1712 and died in 1788 in Edgefield County South Carolina. Charles Harvey was born abt 1712 to 1715. Charles Harvey was believed to have been married two times (2), (3),(4),(5),(6),(7), (8). Charles Harvey married first Frances Blassingame abt 1732 and they had 1) son a Thomas Harvey born abt 1733. It appears that Frances may have died early and was married again to a Mary Holcombe abt 1734. With this wife he had 6 more sons they were (8),(9), (10),(11),(12); 2) Charles Harvey Junior born abt 1736-1740 3) Philemon or Philip Harvey born abt 1740 4) Littleberry Harvey born abt 1744 5) William Harvey born abt 1745 6) John Holcombe Harvey born abt 1746 7) James Holcombe Harvey born abt 1748 There was a Thomas Blassingame who was in Kentucky and came to Virginia abt 1719-1723 (7) . When Charles Harvey died and moved to SC is up in the air. Most of the sources quoted say that Charles Harvey senior and his brother John and William Harvey all moved to SC and died there. Only one of these, William Harvey has a will that shows he died in Edgefield County SC. The proof that Charles Harvey senior and his brother John Harvey was in SC are the deeds in Craven County SC and the death of Charles Harvey in Jefferson County Georgia abt 1800. I think I can now prove that the Harvey's in Craven county SC were not The senior Harvey's but the 7 brothers of Laurens County what was the 96th district and before that Craven County. We know now that the Charles Harvey who died in Jefferson Co. GA was Charles Harvey Junior who married Frances Harvey daughter of Thomas Harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame. I sent for the deeds in Craven county. Craven County was not a regular county (9). It was given to large tracts of land that had no boundaries and ran to what was the NC border. Craven County would have covered many of the current day counties. If you look at these deeds you find the following Harvey names. 1) Deed by James Major May 24, 1788 Land bordered John Harvey's in Camden district. 2) Deed by Margaret Cochran Oct. 26, 1774 Land on Jefferies Creek borders Thomas Harvey land. 3) Deed by Archibald Murphy Dec. 27, 1774 Land on Jacksons Creek borders John Harvey land. 4) Deed by John Harvey Jan. 3, 1775 land on Little River called North Creeks. 5) Deed by Benjamin Mazyck Jan. 3, 1775 Land on Little Saluda River borders John and Charles Harvey Land. 6) Deed by Griffine Nunnery's Jan. 4 , 1775 deliverd to Thomas Harvey 7) Deed by John Flemor Jan. 2, 1775 Land on Black Creek. Delivered to Thomas Harvey. 8) Deed by Philemon Harvey Mar. 30, 1775 Land on Beards Fork Branch of Dunkins Creek. 9) Deed by Moses Yarborough Feb. 13, 1775 Land on Little river borders James Harvey Land. 10) Deed by Samuel Wragg May 1, 1775 Land in Craven County on Catfish Creek borders James Harvey Land. 11) Deed by Thomas Harvey May 21, 1775 Land on Everlasting Branch of Black creek in Craven County. 12) Deed by William Stuart land on Black Creek in Carven County Delivered to Thomas Harvey. 13) Deed by Capt. Alexander Alexander May 24, 1775 in Berkley County on Santee River (Alexanders suppose to have followed Harvey's) 14) Deed by Robert Cooper Land in Craven County between the Borad and Saludy Rivers NE of Little River. Boreders Philemon Harvey land. 15) Deed by John Harvey Land in Craven County. 16) Deed by James Wilson Aug. 22 , 1774 Land on Little River of Saludy in Craven County borders Charles Harvey land. You can see form these deeds that These harvey's are the 7 brothers and they held large pieces of land that covered over many current day counties. You can also see that these Harvey's held land in Craven County. This shows to me that these are not Charles Harvey Senior and his brother John Harvey Senior, but are all the children I believe of Charles Harvey senior. I have some other deeds that are important are (14): 1) Lease and Mortgage by Jacob Jones of St. Marks Parish for land which once was owned by Charles Harvey on the Little River 2) Deed by Charles Harvey Carpenter June 23, 1772 in Craven County Sells 100 Acres of land of a total of 380 acres he had bought May 18, 1771. Two Witnesses were John Cargill Junior and John Harvey. These names are important because the Jones and Cargill lines are related to this line. The Cargills through Littleberry Harvey and I do not know how the Jones are connected. I believe they are though. This item was from the source (15). Estate sale of John Jones deceased 16, July 1784. Philip and Littleberry Harvey 96th district Abbeyville. Now for the Children of Charles Harvey Senior and their children. 1) Thomas Harvey He served in the Rev. War and died in 1789 in Laurens Co. SC (16),(17). It is not known if he had any children. John Harvey signed his Will as nearest living realative and signed his Indent record as his heir. Many other sources say that Thomas Harvey stayed in Brunswick Co. VA and died there. That seems starange that Charles harvey Senior was in VA as late ae 1764 and Thomas did not stay with him. I believe that the Thomas Of Laurens Co. SC is the son of Charles Harvey senior and not Thomas of Brunswick co. VA.. 2) Charles Harvey junior moved to Georgia and had many deeds there and died in Jefferson Co. GA.. (18),(19). One deed that I have in 1798 of Charles Harvey of Jefferson County GA to Franklin Co. GA calls himself Senior. I believe that was done to distinguish between the Charles Harvey of Franklin County GA who had Rev. War grants there and had a wife named Frances and whose father was a John Harvey as stated in deeds from Franklin County. This Charles Harvey was later known as I believe as Charles B. Harvey who later goes to Hickman County Tennessee abt 1809. Charles Harvey also was a magistrat of Queensboro (20). Queensboro was located between Rocky Comfort and Big Creek, Creeks which emptied into the Ogeechee River in what would be Georgia. I had said SC but it was Georgia. Charles Harvey from Jefferson County GA.died there and had the following children.: 1) Blassingame Harvey born before 1776 and married Betsey Tuberfield Harvey daughter of Blassingame Harvey Senior son of Thomas Harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame. 2) Elizabeth Harvey married and Unknown French 3) James Hill or Holcombe Harvey 4) John Holcombe Harvey 5) Sally Harvey 6) Susannah Harvey 7) Thomas Harvey I do not have a lot of information on these children. A lot of other sources have mixed up Charles Harvey senior's children with Charles Harvey junior's children. Some have listed they served in the Rev. war also. That may not be correct though. They all would have been born abt 1762 on. They could have served but then they could not be the land owners in Laurens county SC in 1772. They would all be abt 10 years old at that time. When and where Charles Harvey Senior died is not know either. He is last seem in Virginia in 1764 with a deed in the Lunenburg Co. VA deeds as living in Bedford County VA.(21). In the 1782 Census Charles Harvey Junior is the only one in VA as a head of household in that Census. I believe that Charles Harvey senior died in VA between 1764 and 1782. He may have not had a will but he may have had a court entry where his property was transfered to others. It has just not been found yet. The deeds do not appear to state ,in Craven county, that he moved there and died. If Charles Harvey moved there why were Charles Harvey junior in Bedford Co. as well as Joel Harvey who was married there to Nancy Clayton? 3) Philemon Harvey, I do not know where he went. He is last listed in the 1790 and 1800 Census of SC Laurens County (11). Served in the Rev. War indent record signed by John Harvey his brother(17). 4) Littleberry Harvey married Nancy Cargill and moved to Georgia and then Louisiana where he died after 1820 (10),(24),(25),(18). Children believed to be: 1) Thomas Harvey 2) Blassingame W. Harvey 3) John J. Harvey 4) Dandy Harvey 5) William Harvey. Not much is known about him. Signed the Indent records for James harvey (17) and said he was his heir. 6) John Holcombe Harvey served in the Rev. War (17) and appears in the 1790 Census of SC Laurens County (11). Also has many deeds in Georgia and believe he went to Louisiana with his son Charles B. Harvey and died there after 1820 (18),(24). Two known child Charles B. Harvey and Thomas G. Harvey(25),(18), question is, is he the father of Joel Vincent Harvey? Also believe he had another son Thomas G. Harvey my ancestor. I believe this John died abt 1807 in Tennessee. My Thomas was born abt 1775 or 1776 in SC. John Harvey appears in the Laurens County SC 1790 Census with one son below the age of 16 which is the right age for my Thomas G. Harvey. 7) James Holcombe Harvey died in the service of the Rev. War (17) and William Harvey is stated as his heir. Died in Berkely County SC and has a will there I believe (26). All these Harvey's served in the Rev. War in SC as well as Joel Vincent Harvey from the 96th district (23). Their were other Harveys who served there also. Several James and several John Harvey's. One Harvey (23) was listed as Harvey _____ served for Col. Daniel McMurphy of Georgia and was killed. (Richard Jones - W.9081) (William Howe SR - S.21303) There was also a John Harvey who was born abt 1749/1750 and married 1st Margarett Unknown and then a Martha or Patsey Unknown. This John has been linked to William Harvey senior brother of Charles Harvey Senior. But they used deeds and information of the Laurens Co. group to link him to William Harvey. Also a deed Blassingame Harvey of edgefiled Co. SC Jan. 19 1789 sells land to William Howl or Howell Junior of Edgefield Co. SC.. Edgefield Co was seperated from Burke County Georgia by a river. After looking at some more deeds John Harvey's wife was named Mary because he sold his land to a Samuel Wilson. Charles Harvey then sold him more land in another deed, the Charles harvey son of John Harvey. Other sources are looking at these transactions and saying this John Harvey and Mary are John Harvey senior from Lunenburg Co. VA.. But with the Holcombe name and the deeds I believe this is John Holcombe Harvey son of Charles Harvey senior. I also found a book that listed the men who submitted aplications for Rev. War paymets. It stated that when the application was submitted they were given a number for the day they submitted their application. If they were rejected they could submit it again and they would get another number. Below are the Hrvey's and the numbers they were assigned when they submitted their applications. It shows how many times they were submitted. William Harvey 2, 60 William Jacob Harvey 5 Philemon Harvey 47 My line John Harvey 47 My line Berry Harvey 54 My line Joel Harvey 54 My line Charles Harvey 54 My line Blassingame Harvey 59 James Harvey 60 Seth Harvey 60 Evan Harvey 60 Baker Harvey 60 Richard Harvey 60 Thomas Harvey 83,88 Henry Harvey 88 Abaslom Harvey 117 Could not find James or William Harvey but 54 and 47 are believed to be the Harvey's from Laurens Co. SC.. I also searched the Rev War soliders of Virginia. Found a (22) Joel Harvey of Culpepper Co. VA.. He did serve in the war but served from VA not SC.. This Joel is not Joel Vincent Harvey who served in SC.. He is I believe a cousin though. There is a Land deed in the index of deeds I searched for Lunenburg Co. VA for a Francis Harvey male. He is believed to have gone to Culpepper county VA.. I did not find many deeds for Harvey's. I found one more deed for Charles Harvey in the index dated June 11, 1762. I will have to send for that deed. I found a deed for Francis Harvey dated July 3, 1750. The only other names I found were the Cargills. I found Cornelious Cargill who had a deed with a John Lucas. My Thomas G. Harvey's second women who he had children with was a Unknown Lucas. They never married and he had to have the children legitimized in Tennessee in 1821. This Lucas women may descend from this John Lucas. In closing I am going to give the Harvey chart of the first Harvey from England to America.
