Dear Researchers, I am sharing this information with you as a heads-up on a "situation". Many of us are contributors to Rootsweb, and the USGENWEB project. I have been informed that Ron Eason, who was the head of the USGenWeb Census Project, actually incorporated as a FOR PROFIT corporation using the reserved term "USGenWeb" without the Advisory Board's knowledge or approval. The organization is at http://www.us-census.org . The (USGENWEB) Advisory Board voted and passed Motion 00-10 sever its relationship with the USGenWeb Census Project, Inc. headed by Ron Eason. I received several emails from USGENWEB folks earlier today, including an email that states, in part: "been brought to my attention that the organization calling themselves the USGENWEB Census Project located at http://www.us-census.org is attempting to contact the transcribers to get them to give permission to post their transcribed census at their web site by claiming they are affiliated with the USGENWEB Census Project, THEY ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH USGENWEB IN ANY WAY . They are using our logo and name in an effort to trick innocent people into believing they are a part of USGENWEB.Please DO NOT BE FOOLED by them and their lies. I encourage you to not deal with these underhanded people and continue to deal with the Census Coordinator that you have been working with ...
