He married GOODSPRING MARTHA "PATSEY" KIRBY, daughter of JOHN KIRBY and JEMIMA ?. John was probably born in Virginia and lived in the Halifax/Pittsylvania County area prior to moving to Spartanburg, SC in the very late 1700's.
