My most wanted HARVEY is Richard HARVEY who was living in Newport, Essex, England in October 1747 when he married his first wife Catherine HOLGATE by special licence at Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex. At that time Richard was described as "a batchelor aged 22 of Newport". This puts his date of birth at around 1725, but I can find no record of his birth or baptism in or around Newport although local records show HARVEYs in Newport some 100 years before 1725. Richard subsequently married Ann RUNHAM in 1763 and Susannah CANE in 1768. Richard & Susannah are my maternal ggg-grandparents. There is anecdotal evidence in the family that Richard HARVEY may have been a descendant of Thomas HARVEY of Kent, brother of the famous physician Sir William HARVEY. Happy New Year to you all.
