My most wanted HARVEY remains nameless, so I will tell you what I know in case someone, somewhere, sometime will be able to see a connection to someone with a name. An Allen HARVEY was listed on the 1830 census of McMinn Co., TN. Then I found a record of his signing as bondsman for the marriage of Jemima HARVEY, 1831 in Rhea Co. (Meigs Co. wasn't formed until 1836 from Rhea) Never hear from Allen Harvey after that. In 1840 Meigs Co., TN census, there is a Phebe/Phoebe HARVEY listed as head of household with several children, among them (1) Melvina aka Vina HARVEY who md Calvin MANTOOTH in Meigs Co. William Griffin was bond. (2) Elizabeth HARVEY md William GRIFFIN, 1843 Meigs Co. and (3) William HARVEY md Sarah Dethrage. So far I cannot find any of the children except for these three. Then in 1842 Phebe HARVEY marries Samuel DAVIS, he died by 1849 because Phebe (unk maiden name) HARVEY, DAVIS married John GARDNER. They lived in Meigs Co. and died there as well. In the 1870 census listing Phebe Gardner, she has a William and Jenneta DILL living in the household. Would like to know who they are?? And that is part of my sad HARVEY tale... Kay Griffin Snow
My most wanted Harvey is my 3rd ggrandfather Silas Harvey Sr. b. 1795 Ma. d. 1862. He served in the War of 1812 on the Niagara Frontier and was in Crawford Co. Pa. by 1820 with wife Rachel Paden and two sons, one of which, Silas Harvey Jr. b. 1818 Pa., was my 2nd ggrandfather. By 1840 he was in Richmond Twp. Ashtabula Co. Oh. In 1855 Silas Sr. and Rachel divorced. We have located Rachel's grave in Crawford Co. Pa., but to date have not found Silas'. I have recently discovered a Silas Harvey listed in the 1860 census for Royalton Niagara County New York. I need to find the parents of Silas, and his place of death. Richard J. Hi, I watch this list so that I might spot people who might be looking for Harvey ancestors that came from the French Canadian area. Sebastien Hervet came to Quebec and married Francoise Philippeau in 1689. Their descendants filled the Charlevoix and Saguenay regions of Quebec and the name was changed with time and miss spellings to Harvey. Some of Sebastien's descendants even thought that they were of Scottish origins as my grandmother did. Looking for the ever elusive Scottish origin I have acquired a good size database for the Harvey (Hervet - Hervé) family. I have just added to the website the following page: http://www.wolfenet.com/~tic-toc/harvindx.htm It is good size (over 300k) it contains over 1100 individual Harvey family members and their birthdays and their parents. If you suspect your Harvey ancestors had French Canadian blood check this list. If you want to follow up on a suspected lead just drop me some e-mail at: tic-toc@wolfenet.com Hope this might help someone. Bonne Année Andy Laberge in Yakima
