I belong to several groups as most of us do this was sent to the Pennington List for posting. I am now sending to the Harvey list, for one of us there's bound to be a connection, be in a Harvey or another surname. Good Luck and may the New Year bring each of us those Most Wanted. The U.S. Army Military History Institute has started a searchable database of their Special Collections. Using this database you can see if a photograph exists of your Civil War ancestor. Just enter the surname you're searching and the results page will give any photos of any soldier with that surname, along with (if known) his regiment. Next, you can send an e-mail with the photo ID's that you're interested in. The Army will then send you (for free) a photocopy of the picture, along with instructions on ordering a duplicate photo. An 8x10 photo costs $10.00. No more then ten photos will be produced for any one customer per year. http://carlisle-www.army.mil/usamhi/PhotoDB.html You can supply any of your surnames of ancestors that may have been in the Civil War. The brief information usually mentions the regiment associated with the name, so that information can help you locate that person in Military archives
Dear Harvey Researchers, My most elusive Harvey is William Harvey, my gggg Grandfather, born about 1797 in Pennsylvania (some census records say he was born in Ohio). I don't know the name of his wife, but they lived in Canada (location unknown) and had at least the following four children. William and these four children showed up in Shirland, Winnebago Co, IL, on the 1850 US Federal Census, but no wife was listed. 1. Josiah J. Harvey born about Dec 1827, married Margaret Crump (also born in Canada) in 1854, Durand, Winnebago Co, IL. They had the following children all born in Winnebago Co, IL: William H. (b.1855), Mary Isabel (my gg grandmother b.1856), Joseph Issac (b.1859), Albert (b.1860), Anna (b.1863), Bert (b.1865), Fred (b.1870), Charolotte (b.1873), Mabel (b.1877), and Lulu & George, birthdates unknown. 2. John born about 1831, Canada 3. Nancy born about 1833, Canada 4. Mary P. born about 1835, Canada I have a lot more information on the children and desendants of Josiah and Margaret Crump Harvey that I'd be happy to share, but would really like to get information on his other three siblings, thier father and mother's history and any possible connections back in further generations. Does anyone have a definite death date for Mollie Harvey, wife of James Houchins? They married 1798 in Monroe Co., VA. Mollie was b. abt 1785 in Monroe Co., VA. She died in Crumps Bottom, Summers Co., WV. Mollie was the daughter of Benjamin Harvey and Susan Ballard Harvey. Also does anyone have a death date, place or burial for Susan Ballard Harvey (Above) and Benjamin (d. abt or aft 1826) Monroe Co., VA. I was in Henry Co., IN and found her son John Harvey and wife Jane Mann buried in White Union Cemetery. Also 3 other of her children came to Henry Co., IN. There is a stone next to John's that says S. Harvey 80 something years old, she died in 1836.....could this be my Susan, as she may have come to Henry with her children after her husband died? Thanks and Happy New Year! Amy Miller Connell

Hi Carolyn; While you are making requests in Hamilton County Ohio, please be on the lookout for Betty Harvey Macks children, some of who settled around that area. Richard and Betty's grand daughter was my great-grand mother and I have been unable to locate her parents, but think it was Mr. and Mrs.Erastus Mack who settled in Hamilton and Butler County, Ohio. Hope you are enjoying the best of everything this New Years Eve. My last day of work was December 30th and I am looking forward to a year of unobstructed ancestor hunting. Ron Pyle Angels Camp, Ca. Two sons of Nathaniel Bell Harvey, Alexander (b. 1846, Hampshire Co, VA) and Jesse Eusephus (b. 1849, Garrett Co, MD), were in Cowley Co, KS by 1882. Jesse had previously married Sarah Savage in MD, and had daughter Alberta Maude Harvey (who married Albert Thomas Shockley). He later married Jessie Louella Stewart in KS and had 4 more children. What happened to first wife? Did she die, or did they divorce. Alexander was my great grandfather. I am trying to find out when they left MD, and where they were in between 1873 and 1882. Alexander went to work for Drury Warren in Cowley Co, KS, before 1883, when he married Drury's daughter Amanda, who was 16 (he was 37). Was he previously married? The family is well documented in Garrett County, but nothing was known about what happened to Alexander and Jesse by the family currently left there. I would like to fill in the blanks.
