Dear Harvey TEAMS Leaders, The Team pages are getting a lot of traffic, and I think that this is a valuable resource for our research! Consequently, I would like to update the TEAMS pages next week. In preparation, I would like to hear from ALL the TEAM leaders. I know that several Teams have new leaders, and it's important that contact information is updated. Hello List, It's been a while since I posted my query: I am seeking ANYTHING on Andrew HARVEY, who came to the Colonies in about 1773 (give or take a few years) from Scotland. He ended up on the estate of Col. David MASON in Sussex Co. VA, possibly as an indentured servant - possibly in the stables, by 1776. He was often used as a messenger, delivering papers and dispatches between the plantation and Williamsburg. He also lived for a while with MASON's son-in-law, Jordan RICHARDSON. He accompanied MASON into the war as a private. Col. MASON was taken ill early in the Rev. and Andrew HARVEY ended up re-enlisting in Caswell Co. North Carolina, and I have no evidence that he ever returned to the MASON estate. He married in Caswell Co. NC to Sarah [unknown] c1780 and then migrated to Russell Co. VA. He then moved on to Clay Co. KY (which became Perry Co. KY, and later, Breathitt Co. KY)in 1814, where he died c1839. I know that he had several heirs who were non-resident of KY: Patsy Alley, Katherine Alley, Sally Castle, Peter Alley, Jonathan Alley, & Henry Castle. I believe that these are the daughters of Andrew and Sarah [unknown] and their husbands: Martha (Patsy) HARVEY and Peter ALLEY, Katherine (Katy) HARVEY and Jonathan ALLEY, Sarah (Sally) HARVEY and Henry CASTLE. I know that Katherine & Jonathan ALLEY ended up in Indiana, and believe that the others did, too. Andrew had several 'natural' children by a woman in Russell Co. VA named Susannah HALL. These children were, as named (and recognized by Andrew) in court records at the death of Susannah HALL: 1) Peggy HALL 1810 Russell, VA 2) Wesley HALL 1812 Russell, VA 3) Jemimah HALL 1814 Russell, VA Additional court records of indentures show that the 2 girls, at least, used the HARVEY surname. Susannah HALL had older children that may have also been Andrew's : John, Betsy, Andrew & William. My research leads me to believe that these children used the HARVEY surname as Adults. My latest theories support the following descendency: 1 Andrew HARVEY (This is Andrew "the Fornicator") b: c1775 + Susanna HALL b: ? d: 1814 in Russell Co. VA 2 John HALL/HARVEY b: Abt. 1801 (John Harvey, Russell Co. 49, 1850 Census) + Mary (HARVEY) b: Abt. 1804 in VA 3 Ransom Harvey b: Abt. 1827 + Mary (HARVEY) b: Abt. 1826 4 Lewis Harvey b: Abt. 1853 4 Fernandes Harvey b: Abt. 1857 3 Nancy Harvey b: Abt. 1828 3 Andrew Harvey b: Abt. 1830 + Amanda (HARVEY) b: Abt. 1835 4 Anderson S. I have just had to delete over 80 messages in the Harvey list together with over 200 from other lists to which I subscribe and this was the second download today. If I had to read each individual message to find out if there was anything of interest, I would never have any time left for a reply :-)) I *have* posted my Most Wanted but in a more helpful format (IMHO!).........NAME; Date; Place And whilst I'm being critical <wink>, do we really need to prepend the subject line with "HARVEY-L"? John HARVEY was the father of - John Fitzroy, b. 1847 West Maitland George, b. 1850 Sydney, and William. His wife was Susan MILLIGAN or MILIKEN - I have found a record of a Harvey/Miliken marriage in 1846 in West Maitland which I am fairly confident about without being certain. Family lore has it that John was the same John Harvey who was transported to Australia on the "Emma Eugina" in 1838 but I have been unable to definitely prove the link between John the convict and John the father! Following John's early death, his wife married a John QUIGLEY and the family moved to Dalby in Queensland. My interest in this family follows the descendants of the second son, George, and his wife, Eliza IRWIN. It would be great to find someone else researching this particular family with whom I can share the facts and the *many* questions!! Mike
Greetings to all. my most wanted Harveys are from Texas. The information I have shows them being from Wichita Falls\Dallas County. My ggrandfather and ggrandmother were Martin Asbury Harvey and Nancy LaVonia Weatherford Harvey. I know they had at least 7 children. Carl,Frank,Earl,Lee,Daisy,Addie and Henry. Henry was my grandfather and He was born in 1885 in Texas. My father is 68 years old and I would love to find out his family line while he is living. Henry was married prior to my grandmother and had 2 children from this marriage. My information shows their names as Walter and Una. I thank you for ANY help.

In reply to both Greg Simmons and Teri Popp Thanks for your quick response to my query "most want Blassingame W. Harvey's parents" Teri, your web sites are great and I still have more to look at on them. I have been tied up this week with a hospitalized family member. Greg, it's great to find a new cousin. Yes, I have been watching your posts and have questions and comments which I'll get to you later. One point for now, deeds in Louisiana, Ouachita Parish, list "John J. Harvey deeding to his sister- in-law Nancy Scoggins, widow Bowie, now the wife of B. Harvey, brother of this declarant." Do you show a John J. Harvey in your files? Nancy Scoggins was Blassingames second wife. Thanks again. Bobbie Joyce Harvey Middleton
Hi, If you go to the LDS database site: http://familysearch.org, you can find Lemuel Harvey very easily. They say that he was b. 21 Jun 1755, Derryfield, Hillsborough, NH His parents were: John HARVEY (b. abt 1730, Grafton, MA) and Sarah PERHAM (b. abt 1732, Grafton, MA) It's states they were married 16 May 1751, Derryfield, Hillsborough, NH. They had 4 children: John (b. 4 Mar 1752), Lemuel, Enoch (b. 8 Feb 1758), and Susanna (b. 3 Apr 1762). It also says that Lemuel was married twice. 1) Judith _______ m. abt 1781, Fishersfield, Hillsboro, NH 2) Martha _______ m. ? Hope this helps! This is the first time I have posted to the list. My most wanted Harvey is: Lemuel HARVEY b. 21 June 1755 (Derryfield twp, Hillsboro co, NH. He married a Lavina (last name unknown). I only know of his daughter, Sarah b. 1789 NC. Sarah married Jonathan Arledge. Any help on Lemuel Harvey would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU! Vickie
I'm hunting for the parents of Alice HARVEY, b. 2 MAY 1839 in Cornwall County, England (possibly the parish of St. Hilary.) She married Henry POLGREAN, b. 27 OCT 1840 in CON. In the 1870's, Alice brought the children to join Henry in PA. Alice died 3 JAN 1931 in Hazleton, Luzerne Co., PA. On her death certificate her father is listed as Henry HARVEY and her mother as Nannie. Would love to find someone else researching this line. Best regards, Debra Horton horton@bright.net
Claudia, I have a George Harvey b. 4/16/1816 in Stone Staffordshire, England. Married to Elizabeth Wooten though who was born 2/29/1816. They were married in St. Michael in Stone on 5/12/1816. Hope something clicks. Mary
My most wanted Harvey is a real puzzle. His name is James Harvey. He was born August 16, 1906. Where we are unsure of. All we know is that it was in Scotland somewhere. He married Ivy Evelyn Vickers in Leicester, Leicestershire, England and died there also. All we know from his daughter is that he was born in Scotland, had a sister that sang opera music, his father worked on building the Queen Mary as a ship's carpenter and he told his family that he was orphaned young. If anyone knows anything about this, I would be most eternally grateful but unfortunately I do not hold high hopes!! Good luck to all as the search continues!! Hope Stretton
What a great idea to list the most wanted Harveys. My ggggrandfather Blassingame W. Harvey was born 1792 in Laurens Co., S. C. He Married Elizabeth Stone C. 1812 in Louisiana. After the birth of a daughter Elizabeth Stone (note the use of the mother's maiden name)Harvey, she died. Blassingame married Eliza Mary Ann Prather in 1826 in Texas. They had 10 children,, three of which have Prather as a middle name. Two of them have Cargill as a middle name. Blassingame died in San Augustine It is believed that Littleberry Harvey and wife Nancy Cargill are parents of Blassingame but I have no proof. The book "Harvey and Allied Families of LA and TX" by Shirley B. Cawyer documents most of this. If anyone can help me with this line I'd be most grateful. Bobbie Harvey Middleton
