Let me try this again I made an error. I forgot to include the counties in my post. They were in Columbia County which became Baker County Florida as early as 1820. They were in Bryan County Georgia and Franklin County Georgia abt 1789. I am searching for Harveys that moved to Florida abt 1820 to 1850. Two Harvey's were John Boss Harvey and Richard Harvey. Richard Harvey was a Pioneer Settler of Flordia. John Boss Harvey was said to be about 80 years old in 1820. Seeking any information on their Ancestors as well as their descendants. I have a line of 6 Harvey brothers who were born ant 1740 to 1760 and all served in the Revolutionary War. The Harvey's from Flordia may belong to this line. The families used the Initals G. , W, and B. for middle names. May Ancestor who came from these brothers was a Thomas G. Harvey who stayed in Tennessee. The G. Stands for Giles and the W. may stand for walter. I have not found yet what the B. means. Could stand for Boss or Baker. I am seeking any descendants from this line. As I look at each day's new posts I see many (no, most) posts related to those whose Harvey ancestry came from one of the US states. Are there any Harvey's out there who can trace their ancestry back to Norfolk in England? If so, I would be more than happy to exchange info with you. Cheers from Sydney John Smith email: john_smith@one.net.au

Hello, I'm looking for information on Albert HARVEY born 15 Jan 1864, probably in NH. His parents are Melvin Timothy HARVEY and Mary Ann nee MARTIN. Thank you for any leads. Peggy D.

What you say is true, Ellen (and thank you for responding!)...but the information that I received is that he was born and raised in Virginia, married in Virginia, enlisted in the Navy in Virginia and returned to his family Virginia upon his discharge [although *where* is what I'm trying to find out!] Based on that information, I have no reason to believe that he applied in any other state. And...based on the approximate year of birth, there is only one other possibility--in Oklahoma. Of course, there's *always* a chance that it could be him :} but it seems quite unlikely. Thanks, again! Cathy Donovan Amatnieks James Parker wrote: > > It is my understanding that SSDI is not where someone was born, but where they applied for the Social Security Card. It is my understanding that SSDI is not where someone was born, but where they applied for the Social Security Card. My grandmother was born and lived most of her life in Arkansas. I found her in Missouri because that is where she applied. She and my grandfather had gone to St Louis to work far a short time. Ellen Harvey Parker "Catherine M. Most Wanted Harvey: Nelson Harvey of Virginia >From what I've been told, he was born about 1929; he was in the Navy in the 1950's and stationed for a time in Boston, MA; he married and may have had children. Checking the SSDI, there are no Nelson's of Virginia matching what I know about him. So, based on the information I have, I have to assume that most likely he is still alive. Most of the databases that I've checked online do not have many 'Nelson Harvey' listings. Letters of inquiry to Nelson Harvey's in Virginia have not turned up anything. Anything anyone can tell me to lead to this long-lost relative would be most appreciated! Many thanks, Cathy Amatnieks Mississauga, ON
