Harriet HARVEY-HURST Bureau Co. IL 1855, dau. of Sarah Dakin HARVEY? Up until recently, the only information I had about my gg grandmother, Harriet Harvey was that she was born 1834 somewhere in Ohio, married Joseph Hurst in Bureau Co. IL in 1855 or 1856, had her first daughter, Mary, 19 Nov, 1857 in Malden, Bureau Co., and then moved to Roberts, Ford Co. IL, in 1859 where she had 9 more children and died there Sept. 19, 1879. I found no Harriet Harvey her age in the 1850 Illinois census, nor have I found any marriage records. Now I recently find information on an Eli Harvey from Clinton Co. Ohio who as a child moved with his parents to Bureau Co. IL. His parents are David and Sarah Dakin Harvey and the Ohio records say they also have a daughter named Harriet, born around 1835. An article on Eli Harvey, in the 1892 Ford County "Portrait and Biographical Record" on page 533, says that he came with his parents to a farm in Bureau Co., Illinois in 1851. Then in 1854 they moved to Malden. In 1859 Eli came to Ford Co. That same year, Dec. 10, he was married in Princeton, Bureau Co. to Eliza Campbell. After that he lived in Sibley and Loda, in the Ford Co. area. The article on Eli Harvey mentions no siblings, but several are mentioned in the Clinton, Ohio information. Eli was 14 and his sister Harriet was 16 when the family moved to Illinois, so it's almost certain that Harriet would accompany them. I want to know if the Harriet Harvey who married Joseph Hurst is the same one who is the daughter of David and Sarah Dakin Harvey. The only evidence I have is circumstantial, and although it is strong, I would still like some solid fact. Can anyone help me? Thank you, Jim Lossing
Hi listers, I have just received some long awaited news about my Henry Harvey. He married Rebecca Wait in 1835 in the parish of St Paul, and they were both born in Bristol, England. The 1851 census which gives their family in 17 Princes Street, Bristol, also lists a "grandmother in law" by the name of Elizabeth Stafford, aged 62, born also in Bristol. My first question is: does "grandmother in law" mean Rebecca nee Wait's mother or grandmother, if she is in the household of Henry Harvey? Would this mean that Staffor is Rebecca's mother's maiden name? Help please. My second question is: has anyone else come across this family or this name? The third question is: their children were all baptised on the same day, which was January 3, and it is either 1851 or 1857 - has anyone the ability to check this for me please? The baptisms were found in the baptismal records for St Stephens, fiche ref FCP/St.S/R/2(b)4 My heartfelt thanks in advance. My elusive ancestors are the parents of George Harvey (b. 4/16/1816). He married Elizabeth Wooten (b. 2/29/1816). Supposedly George had a brother William. Don't know if they had any other siblings. What I do know is that their parents are George Harvey and Anne Simms. George and Anne were married 8/17/1808. They lived in Stone Staffordshire, England. Any help would be appreciated in either direction. I do know George and Elizabeth's children's names but do not know all of George and Anne (Simms) children's names. Mary

My Most Wanted: I continue to search for the parents/siblings of Mary Harvey who married James Hollingsworth 12 Feb. 1747, at the Olde Swede's Church, Wilmington, DE. James was disowned by the Friends for marrying out of unity, so obviously Mary was not a Quaker. She was still living at the time of James death in 1763. Ernie Alf Boerne, TX

Hello. I am still looking for a new clue on John W. HARVEY who was born in Indiana about 1826. I don't know who his parents were. He married Caroline SULLIVAN in Jefferson County, IL. in 1860. I found them living in Owensville, Montgomery Twp., Gibson County, Indiana in 1860. He had a son named William , age 12 in 1860. William was living with John and Caroline HARVEY. By 1865, Caroline HARVEY was back in Jefferson County, IL with her parents...John was gone. I have tried to find out if he was in the Civil War and possibly died. There were about 13 John Harvey's in the Civil War from IN. There were 3 from IL. So far, I haven't found the correct one. Anybody have a suggestion for me ?? Thanks for your time. Janis Foley

Seeking confirmation of the death of Jane Harvey, daughter of John and Elizabeth Harvey who married 6 Jul 1815, In Union, Monroe, W.Va., Matthew Farley (son of Matthew and Esther McMullen Farley) and had two sons: John and Joseph. Circumstantial evidence seems to indicate that Jane Harvey Farley died shortly after the birth of second son (10 Feb 1818) for Matthew Farley is married again by 15 Feb 1820 in Union, W. VA to Jane Lafferty. According to Monroe County, WVA Will Book 2, p. 44, Jane's father John executed a "Deed of Gifts" to his six children on Aug 27, 1823 in which he distributed his personal property to daughters: Fanny, Dicy and Nancy; sons: John, Thomas J., and Joseph. This leads me to believe that Jane predeceased her father, possibly as early as 1818/1819, after the birth of her second son, Joseph. Any help welcome. Adriana Farley Durham, CA

I am still looking for parents of my Joseph Anderson Harvey of Ogelthorpe County, GA. I have a picture of him as a young man and have been told that he looks like a Native American Indian. Maybe that's why I can't find his father who was a blacksmith and supposed to be Revolutionary veteran.
