    1. [HARVEY-L] Can you identify these Virginia Harvey's?
    2. Hello - I'm tyring to identify my ancestor JOHN HARVEY, who was probably in Virginia between 1783 and 1788, by the process of elimination. If you recognize anyone on these tax lists as part of your family, or know of there location after 1788, I could further narrow the list! Thank you. #1- Pitsylvania County: 1783, 1 John Harvey here. 1787, 2 John Harvey's each on a separate tax list. #2- Charles City County: 1787, 1 John Harvey here #3- Orange County: 1787, 1 John Harvey here #4- Fauquier County: 1787, 1 John Harvey here #5- Rockingham County: 1787-88, 2 John Harvey's each on a separate tax list. #6- Augusta County: 1788, 1 John Harvey here on an "insolvents" tax list of 1786. #7- Harrison County: 1790(?), 1 John Harvey here.

    1. [HARVEY-L] Help
    2. For those who can get out and help. I am not bale to get out. Does someone have access to Census and Deed and Will Records for Pulaski and Dooley County GA. from about 1820 to 1850. Looking help for Harvey and Paulette families who lived in these area's. These Harvey's and Paulette's are descendants of Charles harvey senior and his sons who settled in Jefferson County GA.. A recent article I sent on William P. Harvey being married in Dooley County GA is a son of one of these Harvey's.. In Pulaski County in 1835 there is a Will in Book A page 137 for a John H. Harvey. This John I believe is John Holcombe Harvey son of Charles Harvey Junior. Some of his sons and daughters may be William P. Harvey, Benjamin Harvey, and Greenberry Harvey and others. Could some kind sole provide a abstracted copy of this will. A Benjmin Harvey and a Greenberry Harvey signed deeds for my Thomas G. Harvey in Wayne County TN and these Harvey's are believed to be a relation to my Thomas G. Harvey and Joel Vincent Harvey. 1. [HARVEY-L] William Harvey son of Charles Harvey senior.
    2. I am writing this query to see if any othr Harvey researchers have come across this william Harvey. Charles harvey children were said to be according to some researchers as; 1) Thomas Harvey 2) Charles harvey 3) John holcombe Harvey 4) James harvey 5) William Harvey This information is based on some speculation as well as some other sources that surmise who his children may be. In searching Harveys I came across 7 Harvey's in the SC Laurens County Area from about 1772 to 1790. Some sources state that the Harvey's in this area were brothers to Charles Harvey and Charles himself. After much research and several resources on these families it appears these Harvey's are all brothers and possibily sons and grandsons of Charles Harvey Senior. The Harvey's in this area that appear to be sons are ; 1) Thomas harvey in this area who died there in 1782. 2) James harvey who died there during Rev. War service and was not married. 3) William Harvey there in 1775 but no deeds after that date. May have gone back to virginia as did Charles harvey junior. 4) philemon Harvey stayed in Laurens County and moved to Franklin County Indiana where he died with his sons. 5) John Harvey moved to Franklin County GA with his son Charles Harvey and died in Franklin Co. GA about 1806-1808. 6) Littleberry Harvey who moved to Catahoula Parish Louisiana with Charles B. Harvey son of John Harvey his brother. 7) Charles Harvey Junior who stayed in VA until 1782 and then moved to GA about 1783-1787 St. George Parish. 8) Susannah Harvey who married Vincent Glass. Several researchers helped in contributing information as well as documents that point to these relationships. I had thought that William Harvey had died after 1775 of a military Census there shows William there with these other Harvey's. There are no deeds there for William Harvey. There is however a marriage in Charolette county VA for a William P. Harvey and a Milly Brown May 18, 1790 Charlotte County VA.. The P. may stand for Philemon. The wife's name is similar to the surname believed to be the wife of Philemon Harvey of Indiana. Another researcher revealed she may be a Brown who was found in Laurens Co. SC or a Brown line that was in Lunenburg County . VA.. Joel Vincent Harvey who lived among these Harvey's and appears in a deed in Laurens County in 1779 with Charles Harvey son of John Harvey is 15 years old. One of these Harvey's in this area is his father. It could be James who died during the service of the Rev. War or it could be Thomas who died in 1782 in Laurens County SC.. It could also be William Harvey who went back to virginia and lived also. John Bennet's bodie says in his article on the Harvey family in Historical southern families that there was a William Harvey in Charolette county who was idenitical to William Harvey junior who is suppose to be a son of William Harvey who moved to edgefield County SC.. Now if this Harvey is a son of William Harvey senior or Charles Harvey junior I do not know at this time. I do know with the William P. Harvey being married there that William Harvey son of Charles Harvey Senior did live long enough to have children. Charles Harvey Junior lived in Charlotte County VA and Joel Vincent Harvey was married in Charlotte County VA in 1782 to Nancy Amzi Clayton. Joel then went back to GA where he is found with other Harvey's from Laurens County and Franklin and Jefferson County GA. Early tax index's and land lottery show the following Harvey's in Jefferson and Franklin County GA from about 1789-1820. Rev. War Land grants in GA show that John Harvey and his son Charles Harvey had land grants in Richmond and then Franklin County GA.. Littlebery Harvey and Joel Vincent Harvey had land grants in Richmond also. My Thomas G, Harvey who I believe is the Thomas Harvey who married Susannah Aldridge in Columbia Co. GA in 1798, , Columbia county that was formed from Richmond County. In the 1790 Census of Laurens Co. SC John Harvey appears as does Littleberry Harvey as a Elizabeth Harvey with 5 females. This Elizabeth is probably the widow of one of the Wiilam , Thomas, or James harvey o, sons of Charles Harvey senior. The tax digest for georgia show that from 1789-1799 the following Harveys are in Jefferson and Franklin County GA.. These records are not complete. Blassingame Harvey Jefferson /JO 1799 page 015 (Blassingame Harvey Senior or Billy Blassingame Harvey) Blassingame Harvey Jefferson /JO 1799 page 017 (Blassingame Harvey Senior or Billy Blassingame Harvey) Elizabeth Harvy Jefferson /JO 1799 page 015 (possibily elizabeth from 1790 Census SC) Golphin Harvey Jefferson /JO 1799 page 015 (son of Blassingame Harvey senior) Charles Harvey Jefferson /KE 1799 page 025 ( Charles Harvey junior) James Harvey Jefferson /KE 1799 page 027 (son of Charles Harvey junior) John Harvey Jefferson /KE 1799 page 029 (son of Charles Harvey junior) Thomas Harvey Jefferson /CW 1799 page 007 (son of Blassingame Harvey Senior) Thomas Harvey Jefferson /KE 1799 page 027 (son of Charles Harvey junior) William Harvey Jefferson /KE 1799 page 031 (possibily son of Charles Harvey junior) Note Charles Harvey son of John Harvey and Littlebery Harvey who were in Franklin County GA are not included in the tax list above. 2. I am searching for help in locateing information on Early Families in GA.. In Burke County GA early I have found Blassingame Harvey Senior and his family and Charles Harvey Junior and his family. Other families that relate to the Harvey's are Kendrick families. William Kendrick and his line as done in the book Southern families by John Boddie. There were many Kendricks who married harvey's or related families. Also they may have been involved with a Richard Neeley family. I saw Richard Neely Early in Burke County Deeds. I would like to talk to people searching these early families. I am interested in finding more information on the Harvey's and the Kendrick's. Also would like information on how Richard Neely relates to these surnames. My ancestor Peter Simmons married a Cynthia harvey who descends from the Harvey's of Lunenburg County VA.. They named a son Richard Neely Simmons. This name does not run through my Simmons line and was only used by the Harvey side. I am handicapped and can not get out to do any research. Can any one help. Especially William Kendricks line from VA as done by John Boddie. Greg Simmons _____NetZero Free Internet Access and Email______ http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html

    1. [HARVEY-L] Blassingame Harvey, Sr.
    2. Good Morning Listers, I am working on the descendants of Thomas Harvey, TH, (b. Cir. 1705-1710; d. 8 May 1782 in Charlotte County, Virginia) who married Elizabeth (may be Blassingame). I have little information on their son Blassingame (Sr.) and in seeking to expand this line I recently came in contact with a Harvey family in Jefferson County, Georgia. They, through a couple of channels, trace their line back to Rev. Thomas Jefferson Harvey, b. 22 Oct 1811, d. 6 Jun 1880, m. 14 Aug 1832 Ann(e) Mariah Clark. The family appears to have lived and died in Jefferson County Georgia although I am not sure Rev. T. J. was born there. This family is of the belief that Rev. T. J. is the grandson of Blassingame Harvey, Sr., but do not know which of Blassingame's sons is the father of Rev. T. J. I am considering trying to get the 1820 and 1830 Jefferson County censuses through interlibrary loan to see if I can find Rev. T. J.'s father but it occurred to me that someone on the HARVEY-L list might have this connection. I would appreciate very much if anyone can make this connection for me and for this family in Georgia. 3. In doing research at the library I read a history of Brunswick county VA on early marriages. I found that before 1775 the Church of England was the only church that was allowed to reconize marriages. Any other religion that performed marriages were not allowed and were not recorded. There fore baptist and others who were married by ministers of these faiths were not recorded. The Book said that I believe it was Pactrick Henry told people to continue to be married by these ministers. The marriages would be reconized when the revolution was won. My Harvey ancetors seem to have been baptist. There fore they were probably married by a baptist minister. Their marriage can not be found in Virginia. I guess the minister that married them , his records were either lost or misplaced. My Harvey ancestors are: John Harvey born abt 1670 probably Charles City married about 1699 to a Mary Unknown in Brunswick county Died in Greenville Sc avbout 1755-1765 Children: Benjamin Harvey James harvey Charles harvey married Frances Blassingame and Mary holcombe Thomas harvey married Elizabeth Blassingame John Harvey William Harvey married a MRS Elizabeth Mikel George Harvey Greg Simmons _____NetZero Free Internet Access and Email______ http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html
