I apologize for using the list this way but I am desperate. At one time I corresponded with a gentleman by the name of Ulysses E. Bush. He has changed his e-mail address and I can not find him. If anyone on the list has an e-mail address for him would you please send it to me? Sherry Fleischer
All these great discussions about Harvey's here and there!!! Has no one come across my ancestor-from-Mars Albert G. Harvey, who landed in Georgia in 1810 (apparently from outer space!). -- James P. "Jim" Lynch, jplynch@crosslink.net
William P. Harvey, Jr. married second time to Milly Brown ( my Grandfather was named after her, Edgar Brown Harvey) and had Elizabeth (Betsy), John (Jack) Harvey, Francis ( Franky), Mary (Polly), and Sarah ( Sally). William's 3rd. marriage was to Drucilla ( Paulette ?) and had no issue. William's father was William Harvey, Sr. (48) who married Sarah?. I need help in telling which William Harvey is which. There were 2 William Harvey as per deeds in Charlotte County VA on Cub Creek about 1764. William Harvey Senior and William Harvey Junior. One of these harvey's were the son of Thomas Harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame and the other was the son of either William Harvey who married Mrs Elizbateh Mikel or the son of Charles Harvey Senior and Mary Holcombe. The question is which is which. I have seen some people try to combine both as one person. But deeds and records show there were 2 William Harvey;s.. One was William Harvey who married Drucilla Unknown. and had the following children. 1) Jack D. Harvey married Clarissa Reid 2) Elizabeth Harvey who married Harvey Paulette 3) Sarah Harvey who married James Clark 4) Frances Harvey who married William Overton 5) Polly B. Harvey who married Isham Richardson This William was also known as Goose Creek Harvey and in most genealogies is listed as a son of Thomas harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame. His wife Drucilla was once believed to be Drucilla Harvey daughter of Thomas Harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame. But if this is William is the son of Thomas & Elizabeth Harvey then Drucilla would be his sister. If this William was not Thomas and Elizabeth Harvey' son but a son of say Charles Harvey who stayed in Virginia then Drucilla could be his Cousin who he married just as Charles Harvey his brother married Frances Harvey daughter of Thomas Harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame. Does anyone have information on this Harvey who married drucilla.? The other harvey often called William harvey junior and said to be a son of William Harvey senior who married MRS Elizabeth Mikel, was said to have the following children: 1) Thomas Harvey served in the Rev. War died about 1838 2) Jesse Harvey married Sally jackson 3) Polly Harvey married John Johnson 4) Betsey Harvey married Lewis hammond 5) Nancy Harvey married James Bailey 6) Tabitha Harvey married Peter Fore 7) Richard harvey married Peggy Field. No wife is listed for this William Harvey. A genealogy done on the John Wheeler family list the following on a William Harvey Senior. William harvey Senior was 1st married to a Sarah Unknown. No other wives listed. Will - Dec. 13, 1813 Will book 3 , page 263 Campbell co. VA. Will list 5 sons and 3 daughters. Does any one have a abstracted copy of this will that would list names on the will and who his children were. In the Wheeler genealogy one of William and sarah Harvey's children was a Captain Thomas Harvey who served in the Rev. War. He was born Mar. 22, 1762 per Pension file. He was married about 1786 to a Elizabeth Glover daughter of Samuel Glover and Judith Benning. Thomas harvey's grandparents were listed as Thomas harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame. This Thomas appears to be the same Thomas I have listed above born to a William harvey Junior son of William Harvey and Elizabeth Mikel. The Wheeler Genealogy says that Thomas is the grandson of Thomas harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame. So William and sarah Harvey our Thomas and Elizbath Harvey's son and not William Harvey and drucilla unknown as some genealogies list. Thomas Harvey and Elizbath Glover had a son named William P. Harvey who I posted other information about on previous emails. It appears that William P. Harvey may be from Thomas Harvey and Elizbateh Blassingame from other information on Women who were married to him. If this is so then William goose creek harvey could not be the son of Thomas Harvey and Elizabeth Blassingame. He must be William Harvey junior son of either William Harvey senior or Charles Harvey senior and Mary Holcombe. Does any one have any documented evidence on which is which. Can anyone provide documents that will shed some light on this mystery. Joel Vincent Harvey was born in 1764 in Bedford Co. VA and married in Charlotte County VA.. His father may have stayed in VA or he stayed with his Uncle when he married as he does not appear in the records at this time in 1782. Looking for any information on the George Harvey DOB about 1835-45. He was married to Venerante Rossignol and then possibly to Marie Ruest. (am not sure of any marriage, but he had children with both). This family was located in living in St.Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada in the 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 census for the area. This is my brick wall. Thanks for any info. Angela
Greetings, I am seeking to locate a picture (photograph or oil painting) that includes Rebecca Harvey b. 1796 d. Feb 8, 1863. She was the daughter of William Harvey and Nancy Sullivant who settled in Halifax, North Carolina. Perhaps she may have been included in a family portrait with her parents and other siblings. In addition to a picture of Rebecca I am very interested if there is ANY kind of document (will, deed, etc.) that bears her signature. Sincerely, Jason

Does any one have a Green Harvey who was a Choctaw Indian in there family tree. He is listed on the final rolls and I am curious as to weather he was a son or relation of our Thomas Harvey the Mississippi Choctaw. We know that Thomas had a dau. Lucy b 1816 and a son William Clarion b.1824. There has to be a line of Choctaw Harveys out there .

Received this from another surname list. Thought you'ld all enjoy this: HOW TO FIGURE A BIRTHDATE REMEMBER THIS NUMBER: 8870 This is not an error: It is the number to remember when you want to find the birthdate of someone when you only have the date of death and age. How do you figure the birthdate? Suppose the person died May 6, 1889, at the age of 71 years, 7 months, 9 days. 1. Write the year, month, day as: -----------> 18890506 2. Subtract the age at death: ----------------> 710709 3. This gives the figure: ------------------------> 18179797 4. Now subtract 8870: --------------------------> 8870 5. The result is: -----------------------------------> 18170927 Year 1817, 9th month (Sept), 27th day or 27 Sept, 1817 Source: Platte Co, MO Historical/Genealogical Society
This is a follow-up to my post on the John Harvey survey. Here are a series of records in the general area of Pittsylvania County in the name of John Harvey that may relate to the man for whom the land was surveyed in 1777. I have found no Harveys in the early deed records of Pittsylvania County. There are no Harveys in the first list of tithables for Pittsylvania County shortly after it was formed in 1767. The first occurence of the Harvey name is in July, 1769, when Peter Copland sued John Harvey on an attachment to recover a judgment. 1 Pittsylvania Court Orders 124. The judgment obviously came from somehwere else, and may provide a clue that will help us trace the family back further. There was a survey made for John Harvey on December 16, 1777, suggesting that the 1794 marriage was another John (a son of John?), unless it was a second marriage. The survey was on the waters of Sandy River in southwestern Pittsylvania County, in the same general area we later find Samuel Harvey. In June, 1777, Thomas Harvey, Senior, made a motion to be relieved of all county levies which was granted by the general court. 3 Pittsylvania Court Orders 28. Under the law applicable at that time, all males of age 16 and above were subject to county levies, unless the court or parish decided that charity (usually advanced age or infirmity) should excuse the person. There are many early land entries for John Harvey in what are now Franklin, Henry and Pittsylvania Counties between 1748 and 1754. There is only one other Harvey land entry, for William Harvey: 10 Feb. 1749/50 Matt Talbot Junr., Charles Talbot, Wm. Mead & Wm. Harvey 1600 Acres Land on Fishers Rivr. begin: on sd Rr. Where the Country Line crosses it thence up. The Arrarat River rises in Carroll County, Virginia, and flows into Surry County, North Carolina. The Mayo River is in Patrick and Henry Counties. Widgeon Creek is in far western Franklin County on the slopes of the Blue Ridge. Jack's Creek is in eastern Franklin County. Pigg River is in the same general area and flows into Pittsylvania. Staunton River forms the boundary between Pittsylvania and Campbell and Charlotte Counties (Pigg River is a tributary). The Dan River flows through southern Pittsylvania, into North Carolina, back into Virginia in Halifax County, and then back into North Carolina. The Dan "at the Great Mountains" sound like a description of Pinnacles of Dan in Patrick County. Fishers River is primarily in Surry County, North Carolina. Irwin (Irvine) River is now called Smith River and rises in Henry County, Virginia, and flows into North Carolina. There is a Peters Creek also that rises in Henry County, Virginia, and flows south into the Dan River in Stokes County, North Carolina. Peters Creek was the limit of William Byrd's survey of the Virginia-North Carolina border in 1728. I would appreciate it if any of the members of the list can shed any light on the question of Samuel Harvey's father. Bob Hodges
I am new to the list. I am a descendant of Samuel Harvey of Pittsylvania County, Virginia, who died in 1822 (Team 13 of the Harvey Discussion List Project). I have sent several additions and corrections to the list coordinator. This post is to throw out some clues I have found to the identity of the father of Samuel and his sisters and possible brother John. When Samuel Harvey died in 1822, the commissioners sold two tracts, one of 99 acres to his son John Harvey, and the other of 219 acres to his son Richard Harvey, with 127 acres subject to the dower rights of Alsey Harvey (Alice Burnett Harvey, Samuel's wife). The deeds provide a metes and bounds description. See 25 Pittsylvania County Deed Book 135-36. By matching the legal descriptions, we can tell that the first tract is most of the land surveyed for Thomas Boaz in 1779 on the Grassy Fork of Stewarts Creek, where Wordens Chapel is today at the intersection of 882 and 703. Forty-six acres of this tract was deeded to John's son Samuel M. Harvey in 1851 and seem to have remained in that family at least until it was partitioned in 1914. The larger tract came out of the 262 acre tract surveyed for John Harvey in 1777. This is west of the cross roads at Vance (861 and 844). This appears to have been the home tract due to the dower right. The metes and bounds match those of the 1822 commissioners' sale to Richard Harvey around three sides of the tract. I am not sure what happened to it after Richard died about 1833. Presumably it remained subject to the dower interst until Alcy died in 1856. I think the records will ultimately show that Robert Cullom only had an interest in the land by marriage to the widow of John Harvey, and left it to her children in his will. Samuel received 21 acres of land in 1799 according to the land tax book. This may tell us when Elizabeth died and the dower interest was distributed to the children. Further research in the land tax records may also identify the children of Elizabeth Harvey Cullom. These records are valuable because they give us what may be the name of the father of the Harvey children named in the Cullom will. I will send another post with a list of land entry records int he name of John Harvey in the general area. Bob Hodges
